about me

How's it going?
I've been a writer of various things since around 1998. I love music and utilize it to help me write, current favs (amongst many) include: Screaming Trees, Paw, Bruce Springsteen, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. I think I'd struggle without it when it comes to creating and especially to editing.
I experience dizzying highs and depressing lows, not only in my writing, but in my life too. I have finally come to the conclusion, after many many years, that my writing career will happen when it happens. In the meantime, whilst my writing is being bypassed, I'll take the time to carry on learning and writing in a sort of extended apprenticeship.

UPDATE
Have finally pieced together the book from the big hard drive crash and have sent it off to an email account in case it happens again. I've also sent it off to various agents in the hope of, well something. What replies I've had have been turn downs. Jeez, will this apprenticeship ever end?!

"Can a murder in the past provide a solution to Nick Plummer’s uncertain future?"

France, 1916. Controversial Great War figure Douglas Haig is shot and killed.
London, 2003. Non-controversial teacher Nick Plummer is alive and bored.
Nick is fed up with his life and job. He spends his days teaching bored kids and then ruminating about it afterwards. The killing from over eighty years previous will change history. In Nick’s time a trainer-wearing stranger offers him the chance to utilize his historical knowledge and make something of his life. All he has to do is solve the puzzle of the eighty-seven year old murder. By going back to the actual time of the event.
His choice is clear, does Nick want to report history or create history?

Good stuff. Could do with some trimming to keep the pace up in the opening chapter mostly, to really draw the reader in but aside from that, great descriptions and a grand story to boot. Also, I would lose the 'space station hanging in space' bit. As you've already established that it's in space.... view book

Interesting, provocative and certainly amusing. Most importantly though, it has good writing. My only concern and it is small would be the american tone you display straight off and then out of the blue you have God asking Eve about being a, 'Twit'. Nowt major but it did jar a little for me. Very enjoyable this, draws you in with its descriptive narrative and Terry's inner dialogue. It could do with some editing though as it does drag a little in places. Aside from that, top draw! Best of British and all that. Love the cover too, most alluring. view book
