In 1985 there were two cougar attacks in North America, this tale contains one, as well as a story of growing up and finding love.

This book is about the experiences I had on the West Coast of Canada in the 80's. It is the story of the journey of a young, city dwelling Englishman thrown into the Canadian wilderness to work at a children’s camp. He arrives to find a group of strange Canadians, whose love for the outdoors is matched only by their craziness and their adaptation of the native ways. The biggest shock, however, is the children, who look at him as fresh prey. Can he learn enough in a short space of time to survive the children and the wilderness?
Just when he starts to feel that he can cope, a crisis occurs, which tests all his new found skills, as a young girl’s life rests on the outcome. An animal attack has repercussions that bring him close to one special person. A relationship develops and he is torn, when he realises he must return to his own world and resist the call of the thunderbird.
