about me

I have been writing my story for 10 years now. Finally at a stage where I can share the tale with the world. There is a potential sequel "Surviving the West Coast Trail", also working on two other books. One a childrens book called "The box of useful things." and another based in Dubai where I currently reside and when a foreigner finds all that glitters is not gold.

If after reading a couple of chapters of Call of thunderbird and you would like to cherry pick I recommend :
Chapter 29 What's in a Name;

If you just want to get to the cougar attack, but your missing the best parts,
Chapter 32 - 34
If you want romance 38 -42

I have removed the last 7 chapters if you would like to read them then please e-mail me. I will be publishing the book myself in Dubai in limited edition in the next few months. The chapters on this site are earlier versions and do not reflect the final edited copy.

In my eyes anyone who has put work on this site is a writer, I will reciprocate reads and comments.

Call of the thunderbird

John Fenton Moore

In 1985 there were two cougar attacks in North America, this tale contains one, as well as a story of growing up and finding love.

This book is about the experiences I had on the West Coast of Canada in the 80's. It is the story of the journey of a young, city dwelling Englishman thrown into the Canadian wilderness to work at a children’s camp. He arrives to find a group of strange Canadians, whose love for the outdoors is matched only by their craziness and their adaptation of the native ways. The biggest shock, however, is the children, who look at him as fresh prey. Can he learn enough in a short space of time to survive the children and the wilderness?

Just when he starts to feel that he can cope, a crisis occurs, which tests all his new found skills, as a young girl’s life rests on the outcome. An animal attack has repercussions that bring him close to one special person. A relationship develops and he is torn, when he realises he must return to his own world and resist the call of the thunderbird.

Andy I think you have a nice blend between description and action. Your writing reminds me of some of the work of James Cavell, bringing the feel and nuances of a different culture through an action story. I hope your book does well best of luck. John view book

Hi Joe It is a brave thing when you bare your soul to the world, which you have done and I commend you for doing it in a way that allows me to feel part of your journey. I ended up reading a lot more than I intended as I became engrossed with your story. For the most part your story flows well, o... view book

This is an excellent piece of writing. The story of Tommy pulls at the heart strings immediately and I want to discover more about the narrator whose best friend is an invisible alien. Backed with pleasure. John view book

The Springfield Curse (Fair Critters Review) I really enjoyed the first six chapters and feel you have the potential of a great thriller. The plot is good you have two interesting MC’s and I like the way you have introduced Sam as a very creepy character, but there seems to be more to him that we w... view book

I thunk this is a beautiful book and I like the idea of dream fairies and Boglins. I also like the way you target your audience explaining how you gain your wings similar to doing house work to earn pocket money. Backed with pleasure. John view book
