about me

I have had over one hundred short stories published in magazines, won The Muriel Winter Prize for short fiction yet have been struggling to place any of my novels. I am currently studying Advanced Creative Writing for a BA Hons degree. I love travel, having lived for a time in Florida, and learning languages which include Russian and Greek., I have founded and run my own animal charity Paws In Need reg 1110537, which helps strays abroad, I also campaign against all animal cruelty, from Beagle dogs being experimented on, horses being transported, the fur trade, to the atrocities to animals in China and Korea. My charity has a website and my author website is currently under construction. I also adore Ben Shephard - although that has nothing to do with anything really except perhaps fantasy!

“On a hot summer night would you give your throat to the wolf with the red roses?”
J. Steinman

Deception and danger in Andalucian heat.

Insurance Claims Investigator, Chance McCoy is sent from London to Monte Alto on the Costa del Sol to check on the life insurance claim made by Leona Hernando. The body of her husband, Diego, had been found on the mountain road from Mijas, his face mutilated by animals. Chance seizes on the opportunity to escape his own pressing gambling debts yet finds the heat of both Andalucia and the beautiful Leona Hernando more than he bargained for.

SLAY MISTY FOR ME

Suzanne Thorpe

New lovers, ex lovers, missing lovers, hitmen, and of course ... a cat called Misty.

This is the darkly comic tale of Alistair’s secret, buried in the garden, and Misty, the impermeable cat who is determined to stay despite Alistair’s attempts to remove him. Tiffany is the beautiful wife, with the less than beautiful motive for marrying him, whilst Pearl is the sour sister of his ex lover, Coral, who has disappeared. Trevor is the hapless lad, employed by Pearl to put ‘the frighteners’ on him, and find out what happened to Coral.

Yet someone with more expertise than Trevor is almost succeeding as several accidents happen around Alistair. Could there be a real hitman on his trail, and if so, who has hired him and why?

He has no choice but to call on the ‘missing’ Coral to come back and prove he hasn’t committed a deadly crime of passion. Yet when she returns secrets are forced out into the open, not least a determined hitman and Tiffany’s real reason for marrying Alistair. Only Misty proves a true friend, managing to save his life!

I have only just started this enjoyable book and with relatives like Edward and Joyce I am immediately on Kate's side! The writing is emotive and pleasant to read. I have just written a thread on the forum about what makes a good love story and this looks like one. Seems the key is barriers conf... view book

I like this fluent style which takes the reader along and of course it's a real page turner (only up to Chapter 4 yet - is Joe really Ric or not!). I like the back history for Ric too which makes it all convincing (very important in a novel). I am putting it on my watchlist though it will not need... view book

This is beautifully written, (only up to chapter 3 but can't wait to read on). the atmosphere is enveloping which is something I need in a book. The story can not help but grab (perhaps personal for me as I have experienced bereavement over a Jamie) with its emotive subject and now Julia's lifeli... view book

Many thanks Mick, Ali and Simon for the great comments which I will have to get back to another day. I am glad you found the dark element, Mick, as I love black comedy (I suppose I have a strange sense of humour). I won The Muriel Winter Prize with a black comedy (short story) - a bit of trumpet blo... view book
