about me

I am back. I will try to get everyone read within the month. Thank you for being patient :)

Something I think everyone should do: Get your non-writer, reading friends to have an account on the site. It would be nice to have a few people on here who are less versed in the little things - it would give a different view on each book. I know I, as a writer, tend to nit-pick, when someone who reads because they like reading would give more wide-view things. My sister isn't a writer and yet she sometimes gives me the best feedback that my writer friends wouldn't think of. Just keep that in mind.

I speak some Italian, so if you see some of it in my comments or something, don't be alarmed. It's all part of the plan :D

I write a lot of different genres - mostly high fantasy, but I'm currently trying my hand at steampunk, magicpunk, sci-fi, and sci-fantasy. One thing you probably won't ever see my name on, though, is a mystery novel. That's just something I'll never be able to tackle - I can't figure them out when I READ them, I doubt I could write one myself.

Both of my books on the site are from NaNoWriMo 2010. I wrote Killer Romeo first, but finished the storyline on November 18th at 30,000 words. So I decided to challenge myself to write a new one before the end of the month and I'm happy to say I succeeded, writing 5,000 a day. Try it sometime. It was so much fun :)

Also, they're both written [partially] in Hutchinson, MN. And that's because I'm lazy and I didn't have time to research two different small towns. As you already know from my above story.

Help with either one is greatly appreciated, but I love Anomaly more, so... :)

favourite books

The Thomas Covenant Trilogy by Stephen Donaldson. By far my favorite books. If you like high fantasy, try them out. Seriously.

Next favorite is probably Lord of the Rings. Because you seriously can't beat the classics.

And third is a tie between the KingKiller trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss - high fantasy with no elves, no dwarves, hardly any magic, and only a little bit of faeries - and the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, which has arguably one of the best villains I have ever encountered - Darken Rahl.

Killer Romeo

Laura DeLadio

Alaric has endured the harshest of training as an assassin. Now, after the CIA intervenes, a world of new dangers lurk in wait.

Alaric Gaul was raised from birth in the Firmament, a brotherhood of assassins based in Seattle, Washington - and the life of a young killer was not made easy. But just as things seem to hit a breaking point in his training, his brotherhood is swarmed by the US government and the children sent away to forget their upbringing in small towns around the world. Alaric is fourteen at the time.

He is sent to Hutchinson, Minnesota, a place not too big and not too small, perfect for consciously adjusting to the life of a normal teenager - but Alaric finds that a decade and a half of scars aren't so easily healed. Four years later, he is still suspicious of new people and crowded hallways. Who is the open-faced Russian named Lora? He can't keep his eyes off of her - and not in a good way. She stirs forgotten instincts of survival, and Alaric wants to know why. But how to get answers without revealing too much of his past?

Another NaNoWriMo. I feel like this one's a little beyond hope, but help is still welcome :)

Anomaly

Laura DeLadio

Lloyd has often wished to escape from the world. He just wishes it would have happened under different circumstances.

After the death of his little brother and a failed attempt at suicide, Lloyd Henderson finds himself in a strange world with a proud, speechless woman and her misbegotten pet. He doesn't know where he is or how to get back - or even if he wants to go back. But now, after learning about what Emperor Bullark is doing to the planet and the creatures on it, Lloyd makes two promises.

One: to protect Adolede Leveque with his life.

Two: to save the world.

Now in the process of being rewritten from Adolede's point of view. I wrote this book for NaNoWriMo and have only done some basic editing. Lots of constructive criticism is welcome, because I love this story too much to just let it sit in its unedited state, but I've been struggling with some of the plot holes for months and I really can't come up with much. Thank you, people of Authonomy :)

Okay. I read part of he first chapter, and I just have to say something. Don't take this too hard, because I don't mean it as a throwdown and besides, you've made it this far. But. SENTENCE FLUENCY. One of the things that will turn me off most about a book is seeing that all of the sentences a... view book

Let me just say that putting Joshua Jacob's name in your message caught my attention. I'm one of those people who usually shares the opinion of authors I respect. :) I've read the prologue and chapter one - I would read more but I've got some work to get to. Now. I agree with Thomas Shaw in that ... view book

I read part of the first chapter. Don't worry, I'll keep it on my watchlist for later, but I have one thing to say. SENTENCE FLUENCY. Nearly all of your sentences are really REALLY long. And while it is good to know how to put together a long sentence in a way that the readers can understand, ... view book

Hey, I've read the first three chapters and I have a few things to day. One. You've really got the satire thing down. Even though the below is still true, I smiled at some parts because of the way you worded them. Also, there is some true stuff in here, which is always good in a satirical piece :... view book

I just finished it. I really like the story line, but you need to do some serious editing. The comma thing in my earlier comment, of course, but you also often have verb disagreement. Is the story told in the present tense or the past tense? Usually books are told in past tense - you probably alread... view book
