about me

Writing is one of the most important things in my life: either reading it or doing it! The genre is less important to me than the style. Fiction or fact; thriller or adventure; fantasy or science fiction; war or social comment. I just love the written word!

Warriors of a Fallen Empire

Jeffrey Allin

A medieval-type Fantasy novel.

A medieval-fantasy novel - potentially the first of a trilogy (although a complete story in its own right) - containing adventure, romance and gritty action, set during a turning point in the fortunes of a once great empire, seen through the eyes of a tough ex-soldier, who seeks purpose and redemption in his life. Also, about a young man who finds a powerful talisman and attempts to fulfil his destiny; meeting a diverse range of characters, both heroic and villainous on his journey.

*NOTE* For an A-Z of characters and places in the book: see chapter 14.

Excellent writing. The phrases come at you like a series of jabs from a proffesional boxer, hardly giving the reader time to breathe. Also love the gritty, descriptive style that you use. Its also always good to read about different cultures: not enough people seem to do that! Sicilian Shadows ha... view book

I'm sorry its taken me so long to take a look at your work, but now having read some of it, I am very impressed. I always find writing the start of a novel particularly difficult, but I can safely say that you've cracked it. Going into the novel with the duel was an excellent way of starting; it als... view book

Hello As you were kind enough to comment on my book a little while ago, I thought I would reciprocate. I am impressed by your consistent style, and good balance between narative and dialogue. I particularly like the way that your start draws the reader in. I also like the idea of the excerpts ... view book

A good, smooth style of writing. If you can keep up the superb quality well beyond the first five chapters, it should be a winner. Maybe a little more action and grit would be nice: but that's just me I think. I can heartily recommend this book, and will place it on my bookshelf. Jeff view book

I really like the way you get straight into the action from the start, putting pressure on the reader to keep reading. Your conversations are also very sparky and fit in well with the narrative. Just as a detective thriller should be. Jeff view book
