about me

My working life used to be in the Arts, mainly working with musicians (early music, jazz and rock), and comedians. I also edited a 'what's on' arts website in Philadelphia, USA.

After reading, my main interests are politics, gardening, talking and having a good laugh. When not in London, I can often be found in Italy with my husband, kids and dog, ( left)

Sit,Stay, Leave! first draft is complete at 90,000 words but only partly uploaded.

Thanks to Sarah Harvey for great cover design: harveysarah@hotmail.com

Sit, Stay, Leave!

Sarah Monk

Stressful job, testy teenagers and a boisterous outsize puppy - Rachel's life is chaos until dog-training tricks turn her life around.

Rachel is trying to re-boot her career just as her company is taken over. Will this be her big break - or the final straw?

Balancing work and two unruly teenagers in London’s Camden Town is quite enough for Rachel, but when a giant puppy moves in things only get more complicated. Then mother visits and winds everybody up…

When Rachel’s dog-trainer helps her control her boisterous puppy she also learns how to discipline her kids, manage her manipulative ex-husband and upset the office politics. Newly confident, she even considers a new romance.

Exploring the animal instinct in all of us to belong, Sit, Stay, Leave! is a modern story of discovering who you are, what you want and how best to get it.

Hi Kate - I'm glad I've now had time to start The Licenser - what an interesting period to write about, you seem to know your stuff. I liked your short pitch but think there may be a typo : 'courage (to?) find the truth'. Long pitch was good and clear and drew me in. Opening: I liked the twist th... view book

Hi Dave, I just wanted to say that I've read a bit further in your book and I think your open, honest and humorous writing style is very engaging. The subject matter is extremely interesting as although i have one cousin who had a similar disease to yours I actually know little about it. You hav... view book

Hi Eric, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the first three chapters of Cicada - I look forward to reading it all and will follow link to the published version. I love (and envy) your ability to draw a scene so richly with the use of small details - for example 'two little dots of ink where... view book

Hi Julie, I've enjoyed meeting you on the Forums (that fantastic displacement activity at the top right hand side of my screen) and am glad to have now made time to read the first five chapters of Canterbury Warriors.
