about me

I've had a series of interesting and not so interesting jobs from prying apart frozen hamburgers with chisels (not mind-engaging, but my wrist flexion improved tremendously) to lugging animal bodies to the basement of a vet's office to be frozen -- they were incinerated in bulk. I've taught ESL and Spanish and now co-own and operate a doggie daycare / boarding kennel with my husband.

But none of these jobs made my heart sing like writing.

I wrote my first novel, a Choose Your Own Adventure, in sixth grade. Since then I've had various other efforts and distracted myself long enough with short stories to earn an MFA in creative writing. Getting Rid of Chickens is the first novel I've completed.

I return all reads and I comment when I feel I have something useful to offer. If I missed your book, my sincerest apologies. Please send me a reminder.

Many thanks to Bradley Wind for the lovely cover design.

Oh, what an alluring beginning. Very creepy, more so when we discover that it's her great uncle haunting her! I like the refuge in the trees, thick soled slippery shoes, thoughts much too mature for a child. I love the idea of a talisman guiding her, esp. in light of what she's trying to escape. ... view book

Really enjoying Snowflakes. Easy to follow storyline, great characters, believable dialogue. I'm looking forward to reading more. Backed. --Sarah (Getting Rid of Chickens) view book

Truly disturbing, yet interesting, beginning. It's always good to root issues with their cause, past, and emotion! Nicely written -- I really liked the everyday touches: birthday cards, sister watching Bewitched, nice meal if mother brings home a man-friend. Good voice of child. I look fo... view book

Ooch -- my computer froze, so I lost all those insightful comments. Start again: LOVED the beginning -- great way for a woman to get inside a man's head. Very funny without being dopey and easily dismissed. I also really appreciate your sense of humor -- you have a light touch yet are able to... view book
