A beautiful necklace, and time travel...Kate wasn't expecting that for her birthday
Kate Watson is given a pendant by her parents on her thirteenth birthday. The pendant has been handed down through the family and allows the wearer, and anyone holding on to the wearer, to travel back in time.
After using the pendant with her mother, Kate uses the pendant with her friend Emily, first in a practice run back to the last day of the school term, and then to the 1851 Great Exhibition. There they make new friends, Will and Molly, meet Queen Victoria herself, and even meet one of Kate’s ancestors, Charlotte Forrester.
Emily somehow manages mistakenly to take her digital camera back in time and then lose it in 1851. They need the help of their new friends, and Kate’s ancestor, to get the camera back before someone from 1851 realises that the technology is too far advanced even for The Great Exhibition.
