My heartfelt thanks to Fontaine, whose help with editing Headless has gone above and beyond the call of duty. His own fine novel, Legacy, can be found at http://www.authonomy.com/books/27169/legacy/ and is well worth supporting.

Also Simon Van de Velde who provided me with the short pitch. http://www.authonomy.com/books/33368/the-benjamin-exhibition

In Headless I have attempted to satirize a society where self-gratification is the only virtue; in which everyone is indoctrinated from birth, via an empty and sadistic popular culture, that theirs is the greatest society ever; in which the achievements of their ancestors are ignored or derided while being taken for granted.

I started writing Headless last December due to being snowed in for a while. The freezing winter weather, confounding all the prophecies to the contrary, makes a major satirical contribution later in the book.

If you are kind enough to read part of my novel, please let me know what you genuinely think. I am not afraid of criticism, even harsh criticism.

Based on excellent feedback, I have made substantial changes in the past few days, especially since an unforeseen broadband problem kept me offline. The narrative is now in the first person.

I have recently rewritten the novel, especially chapters 1, 2 and 13. The earlier versions of these are placed at the end of the book for comparison, but I prefer the update.

PLC review: After The Ruin Title: Very good Cover: Good Pitch: I found this rather vague and waffly. It did not give me any idea of what to expect. Opening: The opening is mysterious and intriguing. I did think you overdid the “and on the x there was a y” bit somewhat and it reminded me of a so... view book

Review for Who Killed the president What a great subject for a novel! Chapter 1: The opening ‘blarney’ version of the story makes an engaging opening. The whole chapter moves an a rapid pace, perhaps too much so. I did think you skimmed over some details rather too lightly. I do like the narrative... view book

PLC/Comlit REVIEW MRS MAGINNES IS DEAD Title: Is ok, but not really attention grabbing. Cover: Goats! Goats! Goats! Like the title, the cover I thought was ok but not very exciting. Short pitch: A very interesting premise. Long pitch: Interesting and to the point. CHAPTER ONE It’s a relief to ... view book

PLC Review NORMSVILLE Trilogy - Bear Essentials (Book 1) Title: Rather overlong and confusing. Normsvfille is perhaps too close to both Pleasantville and Dullsville. Cover: Very attractive. Short pitch: Intriguing, but perhaps not enough to grab me. Long Pitch: Some very interesting ideas, but ... view book

Hi Stephen, here's the updated review, so far. Title: Very Good Cover: Makes me think it may be a book about wildlife Short pitch: Interesting but a bit limiting. Deirdre Barlow is probably too parochial a character to travel. I try to imagine what it would mean to someone the UK. Long Pitch... view book
