House of Gilus: Commission

M. Louis Nielson

Shieldstone destroyed, Followers slain, the Emperor fades as invasion forces surge overrunning the realm. The King and his brothers must save the last refuge.

Tasani, cousin of King Gilus, usurped the throne driving humans loyal to the crown into exile in the elven lands of Espira. Years later, after Gilus' death and his son's ascension to a distant throne, Tasani plans a final move to complete his subjection of all lands. As the last step of his conquests, his armies attack the heart of the elven realm. Conjuring a storm, he destroys the temple, its Shieldstone, and its magical guardians--the Followers--in a bold surpise attack. Rallying the remnants of the defenses, Gilus' four sons must choose to heed the commission to save the realm and stem the invasion. The General will rally the troops and lead the forces which remain in counterattacking the invasion. The Youngest will rally troops from the hinterlands. The Widower will sift through the rubble of the broken temple hoping to find a way to reestablish the magical wardens of the realm. The King is charged to seek a talisman which can change the fortunes of war. Tasani plans to strike quickly before the defenses can recover. First few chapters only.

I like the introduction especially where you are in the boat about to be born. It did feel that the homespun sayings of your mother could have been condensed, but it is a nice introduction into her character. mlouis view book

I read through your book, I did like how it begins with a six year old child. The style, from my perspective, was consistent with a six year old. It felt choppy with holes in the logic and knowledge of the child. This served to draw me into the story. In the first few chapters the foot stamping ... view book
