about me

I've been away for a while, but will be back soon with a revised manuscript.

Once a journalist, I’ve written a few stage plays, founded a European Medieval martial arts magazine, contributed to a near-future military video game and filmed / edited documentaries on a range of subjects.

The Guardian is Book 1 of the GREEN ORE series of Celtic Fantasy novels (60,000 words each). Presented with map and illustrations, this is the story of a 12-year-old shepherd boy kicked out of home with his dog on a quest to find secret destiny.

I invite readers to select random chapters and leave honest feedback.

Please note that only Part One (of Three) is uploaded, but if you would like to read more then email me at: dmcgraphics@yahoo.com with ‘GREEN ORE’ in the message title.

Many thanks to all who have read and supported Green Ore to date, including the very helpful editor at HC (the Ed really *is* worth it). And thank you in advance if you're about to take a look.

GREEN ORE: The Guardian

David McCaffrey

Boy - Shepherd - Guardian.
This is a myth about change.

Olwud’s simple life is turned upside down the day he finds a giant footprint. Outcast by his father, he sets off with his sheepdog and flock on a quest to find the mysterious Guardian.

But when he stumbles on a magical pool, he realises he can help a tribe troubled by plague and marauding giants. On the brink of his secret destiny, he also learns of a dark army landing on Opple Isle intent on stealing the Ancestor's legendary artefacts.

Troubled times have fallen on Olwud and his homeland. Can he learn how to control the magic waking within, like Osmo, the ancient hero? Perhaps if he could find the Guardian...
