about me

I am a mother of 3, happily married who has always loved writing and demolishes books by the dozen! If we go away on holiday I have to take literally a suitcase of books with us, although with family life it isn't always easy to fit as much reading as I would like in. I started writing when I was about 16 and on and off over the years. I tried a couple of times to get published, but never really got going and haven't had more than some local coverage. I am now between jobs and looking to see if its worth trying more again with my writing. Let's hope so! It would be nice to earn something back from something I enjoy and not have to go to do a day job any more, not that I expect to earn a fortune! I have a number of interests and "skills", from fast typing and admin to sales and marketing which have covered in my career, and enjoy gardening, cooking and travel as well.

favourite books

Love chick lit for easy no thought reading - Sophie Kinsella, Jill Mansell, Carole Matthews, Elizabeth Nobel, love action and adventure and "steal" my husbands Chris Ryan and Andy McNab books if I haven't got anything else on the go, plus the classics which my eldest daughter has also got into - Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters - a huge wide range. Childhood favourites were C.S. Lewis Narnia series as are most, Enid Blyton etc., and also even enjoyed reading the Harry Potters to the children and admit to reading them again on my own!

Life on the estate

Jacqui Stone

Growing up in the 70's and early 80's, on a council estate wasn't always easy! A real mix of emotion, hardship and laughter.

Life on the Estate is based on a true story of growing up on a tough council estate, on the outskirts of London. Born in 1970, life was tough from the start, but with family grit and laughter alongside the experiences of life at difficult times including murder, intrigue and death. The story flows through the years, with many highlights from both personal and generic experiences - remembering key events for the country, fashions and tv/film, the story resonates with experiences for all to remember! Covering mainly 1977 - 1985, the changes to our country over that period, and the experiences of the family, this is a true reflection of living in that time. With retro being a key part of us now again, it was great to reflect on our history and to bring it back to life. Nostalgia here we come! I hope you enjoy it!

Smugglers Ring

Jacqui Stone

Can an international smuggling ring be stopped or is too easy to take the children of Africa?

With international child smuggling ever increasing, the routes into Europe can be surprisingly easy. Is it a better life or less inviting? When Jess & Charlie come across a number of coincidences, can it really be what they think? With their holiday becoming more action than relaxation, who can they trust or are they on their own. Can they get through it alive? Adeola's reason for being sent to Europe isn't the same as the others, but is slavery the answer?

I enjoyed reading this, the context was excellent, and was very imaginative. I was a little unsure before he was "transported" as to where he was supposed to be based, was it the US or the UK as there were a number of Americanisms which were fine, although the period to which you were referring the... view book

Great book! Loved Fanny to bits, she is so down to earth and practical! Love the ages for the clean living and not so estimates, and the detail - well done. Happily backed! Jacqui (Life on the Estate) view book
