Shannon is grieving for her deceased father. She needs a shoulder to cry on. No problem. Stretch Murphy is available.
Shannon is young, single, and about to be wealthy. All work and no play, she is putting together a financial deal which will make her the envy of San Francisco's Wall Street West. But with the sudden passing of her father, the normally cool and in-control Shannon finds herself emotionally shaken up. Arriving in Los Angeles, she finds herself almost unable to handle the funeral arrangements. To steady herself, she leans on a handsome stranger, Stretch Murphy. There is a problem. Stretch Murphy claims Shannon's dad arranged their marriage. Stretch, although perhaps delusional, is harmless enough. He is a willing helper and Shannon needs a lot of help if she is to get through the next couple of days. If humoring Stretch is the price to pay for his invaluable aid, then so be it. Or so she thinks. Stretch insists he is real and not delusional. He sets out to prove himself, with shocking results.
