about me

I began my publishing career writing short stories for women's magazines in my teens. I've spent the past 22 years working as a journalist, specialising in true life stories and celebrity interviews.

The Kid: A True Story of Cocaine, Corruption, Deceit and Betrayal tells the true story of one man's experiences as an international drug trafficker – and the years he spent in a third world prison to atone for his crimes.

He drafted the book while still incarcerated and I have been helping him with it since his release.

I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the first few chapters posted here. I've already made a good few revisions based on some of your comments! Thank you Authonomites, your advice has been invaluable!

Unfortunately, due to other commitments I am rarely on the site now. So if you want to contact me, please use the email below as I only check messages here every few months.

Many thanks - and good luck to you all!

The Kid: A True Story of Cocai....

The Kid (with K Cross)

How the son of an East London policeman became one of South America's most notorious drug smugglers

He should have been a sporting hero, celebrated by his country. So how did The Kid end up at the centre of Argentina's most infamous drugs trial?

A champion skier, at fifteen he is sent to train full time in the Alps with the England Junior Development Squad. His eye is on the '92 Winter Olympics… but a tragic accident shatters his dreams.

Depressed and vulnerable, he hitches to Antibes, where the beach becomes home. There he is taken under the wings of the gangsters who frequent the South of France – and taught the trade that will make him a very rich man.

But a joint sting between Argentine, US, British and Spanish authorities ends his playboy lifestyle… and so the real nightmare begins.

Incarcerated in Buenos Aires’ notorious Devoto Prison, where inmates will happily slit your throat for your shoes, every day becomes a battle for survival.

In this brutally honest – and often funny – account, The Kid tells the real story of drug trafficking in South America. Mansions, millions, yachts, nightclubs, women – deceit, betrayal, kidnap, prison, torture…

I was completely drawn in by your pitch and eager to find out everything I need (want?) to know. However, being atheist, I found the very religious narrative a little heavy going. I would have loved to have skipped to the lessons we as men and women need to learn, the things we need to understand ab... view book

Being the wrong side of 40, this isn't the sort of book I would usually pick up! But younger readers will be captivated – this is brilliantly well written for that audience. Backed with pleasure! Karen The Kid: A True Story of Cocaine, Corruption, Deceit and Betrayal view book

Tyler, you brought tears to my ears – and not just because of the heartbreaking emotions you talk about here but also because of the incredibly raw, honest way you express them in your prose. I cannot believe you are only 19 – your writing style is so accomplished and mature. As someone who shared a... view book

This is a fascinating piece of work, all the more special because it's true. You have led an incredible life, doing something not many of us could. It makes me feel humbled. My only criticism would be the June 10 intro. It's a bit staid compared to what follows. Starting with sitting on the plane (J... view book

Brilliant! My boyfriend is a professional chef who also rants about TV cooks (although he was happy to pose with Mr Blumenthal when Heston come to eat at his restaurant). I'm going to show this to my partner, he'll love it! Karen The Kid: A True Story of Cocaine, Corruption, Deceit and Betrayal ... view book
