about me

Born in Cleethorpes, Rheagan Greene grew up and still lives near London. She is a fluent German speaker and studied Engineering Science and Economics at Oxford University before enjoying a successful career in international engineering management. She has travelled extensively, for both business and pleasure, and has considerable knowledge of Europe, the US and the Far East.

Now, all but retired from industry, she devotes her time to writing, learning to play the ‘cello, again, and working with charitable organisations, actively supporting projects to improve the education of under-privileged and disabled children in Cambodia and Burma.

Bitter Truths is Rheagan Greene’s first novel. She has recently 'finished' editing the sequel, Bitter Justice, and started writing Bitter Legacy, the conclusion of the trilogy.

Note: Both Bitter Truths and Bitter Justice are complete, but only partially uploaded.

Tessa abhors violence but when her best friend is brutally murdered she is determined to see those responsible brought to justice. ©2009 Rheagan_Greene

Set a few years into the future, International law has banned all guns and explosives. Everyone expects the world to become a better place. But New Crime is growing rapidly. Lawless gangs mimic those trying to keep the peace and turn to the samurai sword as their weapon of choice. Facing them is the new breed of International Peacekeepers. With a licence to kill, they are a cross between the Marshals of the Wild West and the Samurai of ancient Japan.

Tessa Pennington expects the fruits of her entrepreneurial career to fund a comfortable, quieter existence. Not without her secrets, she hopes to concentrate on developing her private life. But then her best friend is murdered in an apparently motiveless killing.

Although Tessa abhors violence, she wants to see those responsible for her friend’s murder face justice. She takes up the sword and, whilst visiting Japan, becomes immersed in the honour and techniques of the Samurai. She changes and learns to wield a sword with formidable finality. Inevitably, she becomes an International Peacekeeper.

Bitter Truths draws to a close with Tessa embroiled in a public showdown with the gang she suspects murdered her friend.

Bitter Justice - (Vol. 2/3) T....

Tessa now knows who murdered her girlfriend. But bringing him to justice threatens to cost her life and those of her allies.
©2009_Rheagan_Greene

Tessa is in Japan after nine months of arduous training. Now she must return to the world which is even more treacherous than when she left. The Calver Cats criminal gang has grown much stronger and extended its reach internationally. The Special Forces attempts to curb its growth have proved ineffective. The unavoidable truth is that she must face this dangerous organisation which has sworn not to rest until it has her head.

Although still with misgivings about the violence associated with her own skills, she soon finds herself immersed in a brutal contest between the rule of law and lawlessness. Narrowly escaping death, she comes perilously close to the narrow line separating right from wrong. As her friends start to fall she accepts that there is only one way the conflict can be brought to an end.

Her fight for survival and justice takes her from comfortable South Kensington in England to Thailand, Burma and Cambodia. She is appalled by what she must do to survive and win. But in the midst of misery and violence, she finds herself being pleasantly surprised and a seed of hope is sown for the future.

Dear Author Zao, I think you have produced a fine piece of work. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I don’t have too much else to say, except that if I was to nitpick, I would suggest it could read a little more smoothly. Admittedly, I might be approaching this from a particularly British standpoi... view book

Maeve, This is an interesting and enjoyable read, and generally, very well written. However, occasionally it is not an easy, smooth read. The first sentence, for example, is very long and some might say, over-written. Possibly intentionally for effect, but it made me check the smoothness and len... view book

Diana, This is a very polished and enjoyable piece of writing – very involving and starting with some beautiful imagery. I loved it and quite happily read a lot more than I expected. I hope this does well for you. Backed and very highly rated with pleasure. Rheagan Greene - Bitter Truths (Vol.... view book

Ian, This is an excellent read. To be frank, I don’t have much to say about it. I just kept reading, and I liked the characters. I do think it might benefit from some further polishing (e.g. next door is mentioned twice on the first page). Also, I wasn’t sure where it was going for a while – po... view book

Scott, I enjoyed this; there is a lot of potential. It’s a gripping story with bags of promise. But in all honesty (and I’m unpublished, so take anything I say with a large pinch of salt) I feel it needs some polishing. Of course, we do speak different language (US English and UK English) so tha... view book
