A Nepali couple living in the US is separated and a Maoist guerilla falls in love at the height of Maoist People's War.
The paths of the two childhood friends cross at the height of Maoist People's War in Nepal as they attempt to find identity and meaning in an age or radicalism and global disillusion.
When PRAHLAD, a young scientist struggling to make a living in the US, loses his job at a pharmaceutical company, his marriage begins to unravel. He tries to make amends with his wife, KALPANA, but when he sees another man in their apartment one day, he beats him up and ends up in jail. Kalpana is now living alone with her son in New Jersey and one of her friends encourages her to find new love.
Meanwhile in Nepal, Prahlad's young childhood friend, GORAY, has cast off his oppressed past and risen in the ranks of the Maoist army. Just as the war with the king is reaching its climax, he finds the object of his love--a young Maoist soldier whose husband has been killed by the royalist army. His party, however, has a policy of punishing soldiers caught in illicit relationships.
