I wrote and researched my novel over a period of eight years. I am a passionate advocate of Aboriginal rights, born in Australia but now living and working in the U.K.
I have a list of old favourites that I go back to again and again... my comfort blanket of literature, if you will. The Emily books by L.M Montgomery, The Unfortunates by Laurie Graham, The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and The Full Montezuma by Peter Moore.

Tightly written and incredibly atmospheric work here, Jane. I loved the opening with the tarot cards, and the loaded sentences like 'when I had a mother'. You obviously understand hooks and obviously understand believable characterisations and I was so happy to shelve this (again!) hoping that under... view book
The writing in this is both prose beautiful and yet slightly comic. You use vivid imagery and there is a wild imagination on display. I will say that the occasional line seems over written, but for the most part, this is readable and entertaining. I will carry on reading (have only managed three cha... view book
A nice beginning, a nice opener, but with one almighty problem... punctuation. You use apostrophes in the wrong places, your dialogue isn't correctly formatted and you don't break up your chapters into readable indents. You use exclamation marks as sentence endings when the sentence hasn't finished,... view book
