about me

Lost Gods is now titled In the Shadow of the Sun! I'm a correctional officer at a medium custody prison. The pay's okay and there's good job security but I don't want to spend the rest of my life babysitting felons. I want to write. I want to write until my fingers fall off. And then, I'll dictate to my computer and I'll do that until I can speak no longer. I want to create new worlds, new myths, new heroes. And I don't just write because I want to. I write because I must. These ideas flood my brain and if I don't let them out, they stagnate and rot and mosquitoes suck out all the blood and my creative juices run dry.

What inspires me? God. My wife. My kids. Music. Ravens who drop by for a visit when I'm out on a gun tower.

Complete at 93,000 I have just the first act of In the Shadow of the Sun online. If you care to read more, buy the e-book at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/29731

Lost Gods Part I: In the Shado....

Kenn Phillips

Faith is magic. Hope is healing. Love lives forever.

"Daggers. Daggers. All around me sixways are daggers. And each one presents a different death. Love and martyrdom. Sublime and indifference. Chaos and nostalgia. Of them all, let me die at the hands, and at the feet, of love." – Wiz, Journal Entry #194

Faeries, satyrs, magic. Madmen who transform into ravens. Stuff of myth and legend. Things that are only seen between opening and end credits. Stew Kasey’s ordinary life as a film critic is forever changed when these things refuse to be constrained by the limits of prosthetics, makeup and CGI. He begins to realize that the world around him is not as he once perceived it to be.

Thanks for the comments. They are much appreciated. I've actually created my own publishing company and published it myself using Lulu. Next part should start uploading within a couple months for proofreading. Thanks again for the support. Kenn Phillips view book

Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your comment. I haven't been on here very much at all. I've been busy publishing the thing myself. Anyway, I appreciate the warm review. It's available as an e-book at smashwords if you're interested. Thanks, Kenn view book

Very interesting. I only had time to read a couple chapters, but as soon as I get a chance, I will read more. Backing on the potential I saw in just these few chapters. If I may give my opinion on something, though... "Green Ore" doesn't really entice me as far as titles go. I don't know. Just a tho... view book

I like this. I like it a lot. There were some parts where it was difficult to understand the dialogue, but I was able to make it out. Shelved and will continue to read as time allows. Well done! view book

At first, I wasn't sure if this was going to work or not. Stories told in first person and work are rare. You proved me wrong. I think this does work and you had me until the last little bit of the first chapter. Why did Betty not know that the red hair, fake or not, was the reason Shiela considered... view book
