about me

A childhood spent roaming the world with my diplomat father and mother gave me high hopes and dreams for my future, but no clear ambition. After leaving school I embarked on a rather feckless climb up the career ladder in local government. And yet all this has provided me with a wealth of stories, observations and experiences which, during an equally badly planned semi-retirement, I now at last have time to set down on paper. Apart from writing copious amounts (as yet unpublished), I can indulge my love of reading - without falling asleep after ten minutes and having to re-read the same pages the following night, as regularly happened after a long day of doing battle with staff and budgets.

favourite books

Cold Comfort Farm - Stella Gibbons
Vile Bodies - Evelyn Waugh
A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

For what it's worth at this stage, I think the supense and intrigue already starts to mount with the... view book

I'm sorry I've taken so long to get round to reading and commenting. I can see this is well informed writing, obviously knowledgeable about hunting, tracking and nature; and a rare thing, being a story about life, written from a man's point of view. But I found the writing a bit confused, with poe... view book

Hello Ida Apologies for being so slow at getting round to honouring all the requests to read Authonomists' work! Have read yours in full. I liked the opening, it was tense. But there is no reference to these dramatic events in the chapters available to read now (presumably there will be later in th... view book
