about me

I am an event manager and I spend my time either working, reading or riding. I don't know what I would have done through my life without books and I can't imagine how people today can live without the pleasure of losing themselves in a damn good read. Books to me are my life, they take me to different worlds, they create passions, they make me laugh and they make me cry.
Much as I love the worlds of film and theatre, nothing can quite measure up to the world created by a book, it is such a PERSONAL communication between the author and the reader, all is created in the imaginations of the describer and the decscribee.
I love worlds created for me that I can touch and smell.
I am an inveterate bookworm and will read almost anything I can get my hands on. My prefered genres are Sci fi, fantasy, (but not with blooming elves with bell clear voices, except Tolkein, he's allowed. Lol) horror and adventure.
But I do read stuff out of these genres quite often if they grab me.
I'm not really much of a writer, I annoy myself, my dialogue is never quite how it sounds in my head and my prose is too purple. BUT I know how it should go, hence the reason I annoy myself, lol.
I'm very happy to read anything anyone asks me to, generally I'll give a shortish comment, but if anyone wants a more in depth look am happy to do that as well if asked.

I really enjoyed this, & I have to say - with the exception of the fact a mysterious cloud is the cause of the drama - it's nothing like the Fog (which is one of my favourite books!) lol But then I read the whole thing. I like the alien trees / landscape & the sense of something wrong & really wan... view book

I tried really hard with this, I really did and got to somewhere in the middle of chapter 3. Unfortunately I found myself getting irritated with overly long descriptions and analagies, overly effusive use of language, heavily portentious sayings without, it seems, a point with far too many adjective... view book

I really enjoyed the and would very much like to read the rest. I like the sciency stuff being down to earth as well as far out at the same time. I like the voice & the way it rockets along through the plot. Well & truly backed... and if you want the rest read at any point let me know... :-) view book

Sorry it's taken me a while to get to you, you asked me to read this well before Christmas, but have been a bit busy!. Anyway the wait was worth it, read all 3 chapters, the tale is well told and kept my interest all the way through. I liked the flash backs to Max's childhood, though the first int... view book
