about me

chris223@verizon.net (agents and publishers only, please.)

I am a voracious reader but I read less now that I am writing. I need a book to grab me quickly, preferably within the first chapter. I do not always read as quickly as you would like but I will be honest. If you do not want the honesty then please do not ask me to read your work. I only back books that I truly love and could see myself reading on a lazy afternoon.

I didn't know where else to put this - I like to dabble in picture books in between adult projects and when I'm a tad burnt out....it brings back the fun in writing, and the joy.

FUZZY BUNNIES

Jed’s little brother Nathan was just learning to talk.
Every time he learned a new word he would follow Jed around all day saying that same word over and over again.
Yesterday it was truck. Truck. Truck. Truck. The day before it was phone. Phone. Phone. Phone. Today the only thing that he would say was Fuzzy bunnies.
In the bathroom. “fuzzy bunnies”
At the table. “fuzzy bunnies”
On the way to school. “fuzzy bunnies”
At the park. “fuzzy bunnies”
In the kitchen. Fuzzy bunnies, fuzzy bunnies, fuzzy bunnies.
Now it was time for bed and Jed couldn’t wait.
“C’mon shrimp.”
He led his little brother up the stairs to his room.
Fuzzy bunnies, fuzzy bunnies. He said going up the stairs.
Jed opened the door to Nathan’s room.
(it was filled with rabbits, apparently Nathan had used the phone to order a truck load of rabbits)

Deadlock

Kris Mikelson

Carvorr Industries had the key to his grandaughter's survival, so Jed stole it. Now, before the world finds out, the Company must kill them both.

Jedidiah Markham thought that the death of his wife of thirty years would break him in two. She had been his soul mate. His partner. The reason he had left that way of life - and never gone back. But his daughter had kept him going, and his granddaughter. The two of them made him feel again. But then, a few years later, the news came. And Jedidiah realized that there was a pain even greater than that of losing his wife. A pain that wouldn't merely break your heart, it would shatter it into a thousand pieces. A pain that no man or woman should ever have to bear.
But this time Jedidiah could stop it, he had found a way. A way hidden deep in the bowels of Lattik laboratory where he headed security. But it was a secret. A secret that had been concealed for years by powerful men. A secret that didn't belong to him. A secret that those who knew about it would kill to protect. Jedidiah had found it by accident.
And Jedidiah had stolen it to save the life of his grandaughter.
Now they were coming for him.....in order to kill her.

Fusillade

Kris Mikelson

Derek, genius, RPI drop-out, stumbles onto a conspiracy of mass-murder that goes back as far as 80 decades, and reaches as high as the President.

Derek had spent most of his life hacking his way in AND out of his problems. But on September 7th at nine pm Dereks control over his world ended abruptly.

Rich powerful people did everything in a big way. Big boats, big houses. So if they were sick and sadistic murderers it only stands that they would do that in a big way as well.

What if the greatest legacy, along with your money and your preponderance for politics, you could leave your son was your deep unfaltering hatred of women. A hatred so strong, and with roots so deep, that it has not only lasted for almost a hundred years, it has grown. Grown and flourished, permeating the deepest most trusted sanctions of society. Only, until now, no one was ever aware that it existed.

I like the style--two things 'ducked gave me the impression that she was avoiding the mans arm, mention of a windless day or two might give finding the ash more credibility. I remember Resolution Game--excellent book! view book

Wow! Very nice rewrite and introduction to your character! I've been up for 27 hours so I'll read some more later. The clarity and the proper flow of information really allows your descriptions to shine--now instead of confusing the reader they add a spicey flavor to the story. Nicely done. view book

I read the first few paragraghs. I think that what you are trying to convey is good scenery description--and it would work accept the order of information makes it unclear. In the first paragragh--instead of being cryptic let us know who-where-when. We don't know she's on a bus until the end of the ... view book
