about me

I recently updated some of the chapters in Shadow King with new content. However, when I look at the new chapters the formatting is completely screwed up. I've contacted Authonomy about the issue and they've done their best to help, and claim the chapters look okay. However, they still look odd to me. So, if any of the formatting is wonky, I apologize, but I can't do anything about it. I'm hoping it's just my computer being retarded and not showing me chapters the way they're supposed to look, but at this point I have no clue what's going on with them. Sorry about that.

Shadow King

Shauna Houser

"When my sister was born, Death came for my mother.
I was the only witness to his arrival."

Branded a lunatic and shunned by her small-town neighbors, Gabriella's greatest fear is about to come to pass when the mysterious shadow man who took her mother's life returns to finish what he started eight years ago. Spirited away to another world, Gabby comes face-to-face with snarky ghost girls, ancient curses ... and the Soul Eater, a creature straight from one's worst nightmares. Now she just has to figure out how all of this ties to the Shadow King, before time runs out. Can she unravel the mystery to save him in the end?

Does she really want to?

Shauna Houser

"I wish ..."
Words are words, but sometimes the right words hold a surprising amount of power.
So do the wrong ones.

Annabelle Kyle discovers this when she stumbles upon an unusual pendant with an even more unusual secret hiding inside. Words hold power, and because of them, it seems all of her dreams are about to come true.

How long before those dreams start crumbling into nightmares?

These are really cute stories, very informative. I could easily picture them being used in school classrooms for younger grades. All they really need are some nifty illustrations to complete the stories. view book

So, I read the first eight chapters of your book. Your plot is intreresting so far. Your writing is descriptive without being weighty, your pace is strong, moving the story forward. I did note a number of typos/grammatical errors as I read, though, so a thorough editing will be necessary. Unfortunat... view book

You asked me to read your book, so here I am. I've read three chapters so far, and I have to say I'm enjoying it. I like your plot, you've got great description, the action is fast-paced without being too overwhelming. I'll be glad to plop this one on my shelf for awhile. Good luck getting to t... view book

Ended up reading eight chapters of this book. I have to say, mixed in with all this fabulous nonsense is some actual practicality, whether it's intended or just managed to sneak in there when you weren't looking, it's pretty good advice and makes me think you actually might know what you're talking... view book

What can I say? I have only read one chapter so far and am thoroughly enthralled. This is exactly the sort of story I love to read. It brings to mind some of my favorite childhood fairy tales like The Last Unicorn and Alice in Wonderland. The writing is light, whimsical and clever, and I love how ... view book
