about me

I'm London-born Anglo-Irish; five wonderful early years in Mid-Wales; my beachcomber habits were then reinforced during nearly fifteen years in West Sussex; thereafter very much London and the so-called Home Counties.

For me the past is only relevant as a learning curve (albeit a fairly jagged one!) towards the future and, as I've told both my kids, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

I have a great family (two kids, a son-in-law, and four grandchildren) so, what more could I want? Maybe, a companionable female barrister (this is a long-held hypothesis which I would still like to test), however she would need to be a tennis-player (I play at least twice a week).

My only formal qualifications are in theoretical physics (including a postgraduate year at Imperial College), followed by thirteen years of research work in the Scientific Civil Service. That training, coupled with three years working for a former forensic auditor, has stood me in good stead for the current 'day job' which comprises a mix of investigative accounting, database integrity, and proofreading.

Informal qualifications include years spent as an NCO in the Territorial Army, RYA Short Range Certificate, and Sports First Aid.

I'm also a professional polo commentator and am trying to break into the American voiceover market.

MF Relationships

Roy Law

In the Western world we have been subjected to a very subtle conditioning process which has often fatally impeded communication between men and women.

Romance and Relationships both start with the same letter, they are far from synonyms yet they are often so considered.

For centuries we’ve been brainwashed by the use and misuse of a few words, and we’re still being brainwashed today by so-called “romantic fiction” in all its guises.

I am a trained observer (not a therapist, healer, or counsellor) seeking unifying principles with an open mind, who has analysed what effects this ‘brainwashing’ may have had on male-female relationships.

"MF Relationships" is purely a working title, the actual title for this study is withheld for commercial reasons.

Although most people lie about their sex lives, their relationships and liaisons tend to be far more in the public domain and also more verifiable.

Reading this study and applying the precepts therein may not help your relationship with your partner, and may not make you more popular or help you attract more potential partners.

However, this study may assist (I daren't say help) you to be more realistic and more objective by realizing that your relationship situation, although unique, has or had the majority of its elements based on age-old patterns.

Salute a Submariner

Deirdre Henty-Creer

Henty Henty-Creer (1920-1943) and gallant Crew of midget submarine X-5 were never properly honoured; were they a victim of “friendly fire”?

This is a word-picture of Henty Henty-Creer (1920-1943) from his birth in Australia through his career in films in London, through his untimely presumed death in Europe (as the brave Commander of the midget submarine X-5 while attacking the Tirpitz) to the efforts of his family to find out what happened.

There has been an intense amount of interest in this double mystery (what happened to him and his Crew, why weren’t he and his Crew decorated); many books have been written and the subject has formed the basis for a dedicated website and at least two TV programmes.

There were so many apparent delays and inconsistencies in the official reactions and publications that there may have been an official “cover-up”. The question then is of what? A possible explanation seems to be that X-5 was in some way a victim of “friendly fire”. That term was not known in 1943, the existence of such an incident would have been deemed contrary to the national interest and, above all, “un-British”.

Yet it is never too late to right the past wrongs of officialdom and properly honour the gallant crew of the X-5.

Lara. More thanks, you've given me a lot to think about. 1 & 2: It also worries me that it's too like a thesis for publication; I do say it's a working title and I think my actual proposed title would satisfy your concern; 3: It would be helpful to me if you could enumerate some "other impor... view book

Many thanks for your Backing and for your valuable comments. Agreed but it keeps me focussed. Would it help if my first Chapter here simply said "The story starts at Chapter 9"? Now on my WL, there's a great tale in here but at present you're making it hard for your readers! Do use a sans serif font like Verdana, avoid block use of capitals, bold, and italic. Oh, please get rid of the internal chapter and page numbers - they distract. view book
