about me

I started writing (only) six years ago, and love the process.
I've now completed two novels. The first, 'The Caves at Djanet' draws upon some rumours I heard when I was on a years' contract flying on oil support operations in Algeria and then Libya.
The second,'Solo', was 'inspired' by watching passengers boarding our aircraft at Aberdeen before going to Shetland to work on the oil rigs and imagining about the effect on the people left at home whilst they are working. This was enhanced by watching them as they went south, to Aberdeen and onwards. In each case they looked
miserable and nervous.
Neither book is autobiographical, but elements of my own experience, as an airline pilot and keen yachtsman, are incorporated.

favourite books

Almost anything by Maeve Binchy;John Steinbeck,Ernest Hemingway, Upton Sinclair,Kurt Vonnegut, Isaac Asimov, political biographies,'Idiots Guides to...' and I've just started on Sebastian Foulkes.
