about me

I've been writing for years. I've self-published a book of short stories titled "and they're off: stories from the racetrack". You can find it for sale at Amazon.com.

I'm a regular contributor to the BetUS Locker Room, a professional thoroughbred racing handicapper, and live in the land of fruits and nuts. I'm also shopping around a book titled "Streetbooks" about the culture of underground sports gambling told from a very specific point-of-view.

I live with my beautiful wife and child in SoCal. I'm begging he doesn't grow up to be a writer because eventually I'm going to need a patron.

If you back me, I will back you...eventually. Remind me if I don't. But, I am honest in my comments. If you're afraid of receiving honest comments from a professional writer, from somebody who makes a living by writing, then don't back me.

Anything by Nabakov or Vonnegut. Alice Walker...I've also got a man crush on Hari Kunzru.

This is good, first person, internal issue stuff, but you need to make it tighter, Benjamin. If this guy is really using hunting elk as a way to come to grips with the death of his son, then you don't need so much description. For me, it takes away from whatever is going on internally. It confuse... view book

The title is awesome. I do like the synopsis. The idea of the book is very good and I'm backing it because i have no issues with the writing, but I feel sort of cheated. I mean, I was expecting something a bit more literary based on your synopsis, but I can't really call this literature. It's mo... view book

Sly, your work certainly crackles. It reads very quickly and is sort of "modern pulp". Good work for the genre. view book

Ian, you're a terrific writer. This is very, very good stuff! I'm impressed! The only thing I would suggest is that you find an editor who really knows you well, my friend. I hate to write this, but it's almost too literary for the public. I know..that's the world we live in now. Get an editor... view book
