about me

I'm a writer of many faces having been a journalist, a nonfiction book author, an episodic TV writer-producer, an MOW and miniseries writer, a feature filmwriter, and now a novelist. I am currently shopping my first novel, Go Down Hard.

Mystery Writers of America, Writers Guild of America, Skeptics Society, SCAQ, PADI

Relevant credits: Um... V: The Final Battle? Magnum P.I.? Simon and Simon? I don't know. The famous episode where the Incredible Hulk drops acid? Oscar nominated short in 1984? NYT #1 bestseller Toxic Parents? MVP Fairfax High School B swimming? World's Greatest Dad coffee mug?

I'm having a lot of trouble taking the time away from my writing to devote the time necessary to do this site justice so I will no longer be able to read swaps. I apologize in advance, but the time-suck was killing my schedule and the writing is, after all, my primary concern. My book will just have to sink or swim on its own from now on. Nonetheless, if you back Go Down Hard I will love you forever.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I'm a Yank.

Backed with pleasure, Geof. I hope you can take a look at Go Down Hard, it's right up your alley. But I agree with others that the prologue does you nothing but harm. Leave the atmospherics for later, when people have an investment in the story and the characters. Your book should start wher... view book

Interesting premise that pulled me right in, but only because I'm a Masters Swimmer. But I think you could benefit by starting right in the middle of your story instead of in the middle of practice. At the very least start at a meet with something at stake. You need emotional urgency up front to ... view book

Hi Colin, I have to agree with Shubie below, I found myself skipping through the chunks of description to get to the story. perhaps if we could meet Diane a bit earlier and lace in the description as he talks to her, making it more about his diverting his eyes and less about pure exposition? Bu... view book
