about me

Hello! And welcome to the crazy life of me! Sound interesting? Well, it should.

First of all let me say that yes, I painted my profile picture and it is the "temporary" cover of my current WIP, "SONG OF THE DAYSTAR".

Second of all, some of you may remember that "Song of the Daystar" went off line several years ago. Well, it's back! It is now going through a major revision and so I will only have two chapters posted at the moment. But I hope you like it anyway! :D It's taken a lot of work, but the entire story is much better for it.

And now on to the rest of my profile. If you read it all, I commend you!!! ;)

I don't get on very often, so if you're looking for a fast reply from me you should probably think again. I love to read books on authonomy, but I can never promise to get one read quickly... perhaps not in a week... perhaps not even in several months, as I usually only have time to check my email and run to my next activity. I might even say that I will read something for you, but just know that it will most likely be quite a while before I get to it. If I even remember when I get back on.

I'm a 23 year old college student who loves to write and read, and who has a passion for God. I write fantasy, usually with a Christian twist or moral woven in, and Christian Fantasy is also my favorite genre to read. Lately it seems my taste of interest has gravitated more towards YA fiction and Middle Grade, although I've read classic Fantasy before and have enjoyed that too. I don't usually read things with Vampires and Werewolves and Demons... so please don't ask... unless those are the villains and that's a completely different story. I love Celtic music and Contemporary Christian, and some of my favorite singers include, Steven Curtis Chapman, Toby Mac, DC Talk, the High Kings, and Celtic Woman, along with Enya, Clannad, Josh Groban, and quite a few others.

I do not like being spammed. I prefer it when people are genuinely interested in my writing and would like me to view theirs... if you really would like me to view your book, I prefer it if you actually check out my profile before messaging me: it's just that, I may not be the reader you want to hook. I've gotten several messages lately asking me to read something that is not my taste in reading at all... (I prefer a good Fantasy to ANYTHING ELSE... historical or otherwise. I've read 1 or 2 thrillers by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti... please note the authors, thank you). If you want me to read your book (and I'm sure I would be happy to... if I find it interesting and within my tastes) please check to see if it is within my choice of reading!

I will say now that certain books I don't even touch -- usually erotica (unless it's minimal, if you know what I mean), and some very dark thrillers, and very dark fantasy. (You must remember at this point that my target audience is children and YA... I try not to read things that might be rated R or that step out of the boundary of reading for my targeted audience) But even if it's not a book I'm willing to read, I'll usually check out your profile and pitch, and if I think your pitch is good, I will say so. :D

I ALWAYS read a book before backing it (usually I can tell by the first chapter whether I like it enough to back it or not). If I'm interested in the book but don't have time to read it right then, it goes on my WL until I DO have time to read it.

If I read the book I will probably leave a comment. If I read the book and like it (or even love it), I will always at the least leave a comment, and maybe back it. If I love it, I will back it. And if it's not for me, I'll say so so you don't think this wierd girl showed up and completely ruined your wondeful feedback with negativity (if that's even the case).

If I leave critiques, I truely mean them to be helpful and not a hinderence: I always critique and comment honestly according to my oppinion.

So there you go. That's my reading policy.

I am also an artist and am now open to commissions. You can see more of my work at www.dragonblade99.deviantart.com. and on my blog at www.theravenquill.blogspot.com. My commission info is on my blog. I'll mention now that most of the sketches are at least a year old -- usually older -- and I have improved. I've also started working with digital media. If you would like to learn more or would like to comission a picture, please visit my blog!! ^_^

Thank you.

Song of the Daystar

Nichole White

When one law threatens thousands, Curron must set aside his haunting past and learn to trust Anahdor in order to become Alayia's hero.

Four years ago, King Morven decreed that belief in the deity Anahdor was banned from Alayia by death. As royal troops descended, Anahdor’s Faithful scattered to pray for a miracle. Only one hope remained for Believer’s in Alayia, but it had long since passed into legend.

Now, Curron is an Outcast working as a stable-boy. Haunted by his guardian’s death, he stifles the music that’s troubled him since childhood, but he can’t hide all his differences . When Curron is imprisoned for defying his commander, he faces death… until Commander Olan’s brother, Caellahn, breaks in to rescue him. Now criminals, Curron and Caellahn flee into the Wilds, but to what end? Caellahn is certainly more than he seems, and the music in Curron’s head continues to increase. Is the Music from the Daystar, a mythical symbol of Anahdor’s power? Legends say only the Song Keeper, Alayia’s Champion of old, can hear the Music and bring Restoration. However, the Daystar is lost, and rumors circle of Dangers rising in the north much darker and deadlier than the king. Alayia needs her Champion, but what can a 14-year-old Outcast do against King Morven, Úngahl , and the evil shadows of Grimwryld?

The Spinner's Apprentice

Nichole White

In a land where stories that are woven in thread become life, Aura The Rover must learn to accept her fate as the New Spinner

In the Land of Telltale, the most important person is not the King, or Queen, or even a hero of some kind. Rather, the most important person in all the land is a little old gypsy woman sitting at a loom and weaving. But don't be deceived by her outward appearance, for great magic lies within the threads of her tapestries. She is The Spinner, the one person responsible for spinning all the myths, legends, and fairytales ever told. And after hundreds of years at the loom, the time has finally come to seek an apprentice.

Aura is a mischievous young rover – a nuisance, as some call her – with a knack for getting into trouble. Even without being the Rogue’s daughter, who could honestly trust a girl with such unnerving blue eyes? Surely she is a witch, or perhaps a sorceress. But Aura has never believed in such things…

Until one day her curiosity carries her too close to an old Gypsy woman’s cart.

(This is a piece started for nanowrimo 09. It’s not finished and still very rough. I am open to all critiques. Be honest: I’m tough. :D)

Wow. VERY nicely written. Done in a passive voice which isn't used ofted, but the action and intrigue is enough to keep me reading. I read through 5 chapters in one sitting... that's some sort of record for me! :) Very good. Shelved, and good luck with it. Nichole The Spinner's Apprentice view book

Wow... powerful first chapter. I couldn't stop. I liked the use of the german... it's interesting because I'm taking German this semester and I could actually read and understand it. :) There are a couple of typos, but nothing really bad. Altogether, a solid read. Backed. Nichole view book

Interesting. I read about half of the first chapter... but unfortunatly, while I enjoy a thriller every now and again, I'm mostly a fantasy type person. However, I will say this. Your writing is sound and you have a way with your words that seems to paint the scene out. I am always on the look... view book

Interesting. You have a good writing voice. I wasn't too impressed with your pitches, but the writing in the first chapter made up for that, I think. To be honest, I don't know if I would read on or not. This is not because of your writing, so don't take it personally. It's just, when on the ... view book
