about me

--------------------------
I'm really eager to become a published author and spend a lot of my free time writing, editing, and reading others. I’ve already sent my latest novel, Ashes to Embers, to a few literary agents, and have had some interest. =]

Oh and a massive thanks to Sara Slack from Inspired-Quill, who is helping me edit my novel.

Yes, most my backed books are high, but newbies have good books too, and their easy to find, opposed to giving lots of critics to people who don't even go on here anymore.

I'm currently seeking representation - sammy_cook@ntlworld.com

Ashes to Embers

Samantha Cook

As the power struggle between Embers and Demons intensifies, a disquieting vision comes to light; this time good can never win without becoming evil...

With Demons growing stronger, Feya and Kelsey train to harness their magic alongside their powerless friend Tristan, only hoping his life will not be as short as theirs and that of their parents. The trio are alone in their awareness that any efforts in the power struggle will be their demise, so when an attack against Demons is organised they prepare for their downfall feeling trapped.

Options are scarce until an exiled rogue, remembered for her inexplicable attack on Tristan, returns with a risky proposition; to become allies with a Demon, abandon their friends, and rip magic from the world.

Nice start, a little hard to keep up with, but not short of imagination. Just two small points. I'm not sure about the narrator saying 'eh'. It's not quite coming out of character but it's almost like swapping from third person to first, if you know what I mean. 'He had been' reads a little awkwar... view book

More engaging than I thought it would be... and actually quite funny in places. I think the sarcastic tone reminds me of myself, so the fact I can relate (not to the murdering part ) makes it a lot more appealing. Its really good. view book

I found this quite a heavy read and very hard to imagine exactly what you were describing. I prefer books that allow the imagination to fill in some of the gaps, and I wasn't too sure if you were incredibly precise and full of detail, or complex for the sake of being fancy and sounding intelligence.... view book

It's not the most gripping start but it set the scene strong in my mind, and the questions at the end along with some of the myths give promise that the story is heading somewhere. All in all, I thought it was pretty good, and the actual writing is flawless. Good luck with this novel. view book

I love it. I really do. At first I thought it started out descriptive but without a hook or anything developing I was starting to find my mind wondering and then it got really interesting. The last paragraph promises a plot, action, characters becoming heros ad villians - everything I love in a book... view book
