about me

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I may be setting my pages on private for awhile, as I want to do some revisions. And I've found that when I do have free time, instead of revising my own work, I'm here trying to get caught up on return reads!
Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I've learned a great deal - mainly how many incredibly gifted writers there are on this site. I'm looking forward to buying a hard copy of your books!
I can be reached at ann1433 at me dot com.
Anything by Jane Austen, Henry Thoreau, Jack Kerouac, T.E. Lawrence, Antoine de St Exupery, Annie Proulx, "Nonconformity" by Nelson Algren, the autobiographies of Simone de Beauvoir, and the love letters between Algren & Beauvoir, "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte, "The Snow Goose" by Paul Gallico, "The Outermost House" by Henry Beston, Lillian Hellman, John Le Carre, "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe, "Divine Horsemen" by Maya Deren, Walt Whitman, Anne Tyler, Augustus Hare, early Baedeker's, Bruce Chatwin, Diana Gabaldon, "Shantaram" by David Gregory Roberts, "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" by Elizabeth George Speare, "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, M.F.K. This is terrific. I love both your pitch and your writing. This is a fun story and great way for kids to learn about the environment and about bees, which is actually critical right now as their populations are fading fast. I'm sure it will be published soon. And it deserves a great illustrator... view book
I love the pitch for this - especially with Egypt and ancient artifacts and curses. Terrific for YA and older, as is the writing, which flows so well and immediately engages. I know it's for YA, which I've missed by a few years (!) but I'm very curious what adventures will unfold for Lesley. Shel... view book
I really like this writing. There's a kind of tough, stark languidness about it that reminds me of Hemingway's darker cousin. It felt like it was written in that time it takes place after WW2. I was surprised that Peter and Ernesto both assumed the only way to resolve Peter's wife leaving him fo... view book
Engaging writing. Enjoyed the first few chapters. It was easy to get invested in Jack's life and want to travel with him to New Zealand and see him start a life there. I could see this as a fun beach read, probably more for men, but I can see how women would like it, too - mainly on account of I ... view book
Not my usual genre, but this is good writing. It seems to have all the elements of solid crime fiction, like a tense plot that clips along at a good pace. It would be easy to become invested in these protagonists, to be horrified by the antagonist (!) I can see why you're near the Editor's Desk. ... view book
