about me

I have been writing for 'fun' since I was in the sixth form which was too long ago! Initially it was short stories before moving on to novels. I tried briefly to find an agent some years ago before losing my enthusiasm.
I'm now back, full of ideas, writing again and published on Amazon (for the Kindle and, via the US site, in paperback). The first Things Looking Up novel is also available from blurb.com in paperback or hardback.
My style is fairly easy going, albeit with emotional moments.
I'm married and currently living in Jakarta, Indonesia (though proud to be British)
I also enjoy photography and watching films. I have three blogs on WordPress, though don't seem to find enough time to update them often!

*** STOP PRESS : To celebrate the release of my second book, I've reduced the price of the original Things Looking Up. At the very least, please look it up, since it will help push it up the rankings even if you don't buy it. Better still though, download the sample and then buy the book!

favourite books

Argh, it would be better to say my favourite authors at the moment are Ben Elton and, always up to date with the latest talent, Agatha Christie.
As a child, I loved Enid Blyton and then Willard Price / Franklin W Dixon, moving on to Harry Harrison and James Herbert. All in all, quite diverse.
If I had to pick one book from all time, it would be The Ship That Flew by Hilda Lewis - a lost classic loosely in the Blyton mould but better written.

A Matter of Trust

Andy Everitt

Even in the late 1980’s it could be difficult to accept your sexuality.
Especially for two girls who have grown up as close friends.

Vicky is sure she is in love with Amanda, but is embarrassed. Amanda thinks she is in love with Vicky, but is it normal? How much can any relationship stand?

For two girls who have grown up as close friends, it is not easy to realise that they are in love. It starts in the easiest of places, a Spanish holiday away from family. At home it must be kept secret, for friends and family must not discover the truth.

University should have been the answer to their problems - the freedom to do as the wished, without worrying about the thoughts of others. Life is never that simple however. Their own doubts and fears are still present, the prejudices of others mix with group politics, and this is all on top of the usual adventures of life faced by students. How much can any relationship stand?

*** Things Looking Up, also by me, is now available for the Kindle via Amazon. I am hoping to soon put the sequel on there, and also this book. Login, search for it and download the sample (and then buy it and review it!)

Things Looking Up

Andy Everitt

The Summer of Love, as discovered in 1990 by a student working in a burger restaurant.

Andy is not very experienced sexually. The last relationship was back in the first year of university and finished with her dumping him over the summer vacation. Girls didn't really exist in the second year. He didn't approach them, they didn't approach him. All in all, it's not what most people think of as the university experience.
Stuck for work one summer later, rather than going home, he stays put and looks for a real job. Fast food wasn't the area he had imagined, but it would bring some money in if not boost his self-esteem.
After an initial sexual encounter gives him back his confidence, he finds everyone jumping on him. Literally.
But then he craves more. And gets less.

This is an easy going comedy-drama, with Andy finding fun and heartbreak along the way, but mainly confusion.

*** Exciting news : this is now available for Kindle via Amazon ***

Yes, that's not a bad idea Rixi and I might use it. I am also reviewing Part 1 to possibly make it more of a major part instead of a brief introduction to the girls. I certainly found however that close friends at school were usually either very similar or very different. Of myself and two of my clo... view book

Rixi, likewise, I am sorry if you feel offended by my writing as it seems to have touched a raw nerve to provoke this response. Obviously gay issues are something people feel strongly about, though it would be wrong to think that everyone has had the same experience of discovering their sexuality or... view book

Thank you JP, I appreciate your comments, and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't thank you for them. I look forward to reading the rest of your novel when it is uploaded. Andy view book

I have to agree with Jan's comments on here: Angie does come across as far too naive, almost reminiscent of Timothy Lumsden in the sitcom Sorry. However, I really enjoyed reading these chapters and wish you'd upload more. It is pleasing to see a novel such as this has been published, I hope to some ... view book
