The Heretics of De'Ath

Howard of Warwick

Now number 12 on Amazon kindle chart!!!

The pointless investigations of the useless medieval investigator, Brother Hermitage.

Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Heretics-Chronicles-Brother-Hermitage-ebook/dp/B004AYDBVM/ref=sr_1_1?i

England 1066: At the monastery of De'Ath's Dingle, during a completely pointless theological debate, there is a mysterious death.

Routine business for the average investigative medieval monk.

Unfortunately this isn’t a tale of average monks.

Anyone who would put the idiot Brother Simon in charge of a murder investigation is either one chant short of a plainsong, or is up to something.

When Brother Hermitage, innocent in every way, including bystanding, is lined up for execution, he begins to wonder if something might be going on. Perhaps his new companion Wat, weaver of pornographic tapestry, can figure out what it is. Before it's too late.

If you are a lover of the historical detective genre, if you have a deep respect for the worlds created, don’t read this book. It’ll only upset you.

Complete at 85,000 words but just four chapters loaded here.

A lovely mix of the mundane with the weird. I like the way you mix the practicality of becoming a governess and the opening of the morning mail, with a completely different world. Too often 'otherworldly' tales spend all their time telling you about the world. You get straight in and we're there. ... view book

We must have had the same vision of the period - but yours is much more evocative. Looks like you've gone to the dark side while I went for gags! Most certainly backed and rated. As others have said this is very engaging and does make the reader feel the period. In chapter one I thought there was... view book

This should just plain be on the shelves. There are writers with a string of "best selling" titles to their names who can't write this. Backed and rated Howard Heretics of Death view book

Looks like you've already got pretty comprehensive comments which cover everything I'd say. I'm happy to back it as it is good writing - your dialogue is good and pacy. I'd echo JayG in that I've got to chapter 5 and am browsing forward to find what's going to happen. It's an intriguing read earl... view book

I don't think there's much I can add to previous comments. I like the genre so would back anyway but as you've seen there are a lot of typos and editing needed. I found some of the dialogue a bit stilted. 'She is mortal born', wouldn't someone say 'she's mortal born'? The similarities to Mr Potter ... view book
