about me

Based in Devon, near the sea, by day I am a director of a search and selection firm. In the evenings I practice Aikido. I have a PhD in History from Southampton (the thesis is a great cure for insomnia).
I write nearly everyday and have three completed MS under my belt.

The Six Acts is complete, but I've only uploaded 9 chapters here.

update 7/3/11
I've been away for awhile, seeing how the MSS manages without any input or 'gaming' from me. I've uploaded some amended chapters, and will leave it again. Back to the writing ...
Really good to meet fellow writers at the workshop on Saturday 5th March. Best of luck with your writing.

Setting a novel in an exotic location at a pivotal point in history is a smart move. I've only read the first two chapters, but already I sense an emerging love story in a dangerous place and time with hints at an interesting back story. I like the nice touches - not only the descriptions of the reg... view book

Backed this. Very strong synopsis and a compelling opening. One observation - watch the repeated words in same sentence / paragraph. E.g. in the prologue - woke / woken, window, sound. Best of luck with your writing Shaun The Six Acts view book

Backed. Particularly enjoyed the Bismarck section! Shaun The Six Acts view book

The tags say it all! A parred back, tough, clipped style and short sentences indicate a mean, ruthless narrative - fit perhaps for such an unforgiving setting. Based on the first two chapters I've backed this. Very enjoyable. Shaun The Six Acts view book

Hi Fran, I enjoyed chapter 1, which started at a pleasingly upbeat pace and gave us enough of Trent's character to hook the reader. A couple of observations. 'I'll give you something to cry about' - the phrase didn't ring true. Maybe a angry father talking, but perhaps not a human trafficker? Also,... view book
