Her family murdered on her thirteenth birthday, Raven is rescued by a vampire hunter only to find out she has become one of the undead.
Raven is trained by James to go after her own kind, vampires. The Order of the Sons of Light decide to use Raven to help stop Dumitru, an elder vampire, who plots to create an army of undead to destroy The Order and satisfy his lust for vengeance. Raven is hurled into a world she never knew existed and has to learn to adapt to her new life while trying to survive the battle between hunters and vampires.
James seeks vengeance on Dumitru for killing his son. Thinking to use Raven only as a tool to find Dumitru, James finds it hard to remain uncaring toward the little girl who is fighting to keep her humanity.
