about me

I am a writer, photographer, waiter and webmaster living in Austin Texas.

I'm interested in swaps, but because I work a great deal, my 'free' time is quite limited and I just can't engage in them all.

Since joining this group, I find myself choosing between writing, editing and authonomy, so I hope you'll forgive me if I don't get to your book. I will respond to all requests asap, and if I am intrigued, I'll read. If I read, I'll comment.

This is a wonderful group. I have learned a tremendous amount form others here in a very short time. I'm grateful for all the guidance offered and I hope to be able to pay it back, or perhaps, forward, as the case may be.

The greatest unsolved art historical mystery of the 20th Century--the disappearance of the Amber Room in 1944--unravels for Austin restaurateur and art historian David Glenn.

When Nazi soldiers looted and burned the Catherine Palace in Russia in 1944, they took care not to destroy it's most treasured object: The Amber room.

The walls of this enormous ballroom were covered--floor to ceiling--in delicately carved amber panels inset with mirrors and oil paintings. Overnight, the Nazis dismantled, crated and shipped it to Konigsberg Castle.

On the eve of the Nazi defeat, the Allies destroyed Konigsberg Castle. When the rubble was cleared, no trace of the Amber Room remained. To this day it has not been found.

Sixty years later, a mysterious amber brooch and an even more mysterious Russian redhead suddenly draw Austin restaurateur and amateur art historian David Glenn into a dangerous and thrilling search for the lost treasure.

When his wife and daughters are kidnapped by the Russian mafia and his brother is murdered by Nazi thugs, the stakes get high and the rules change.

It becomes more than the greatest unsolved art historical mystery of the 20th Century. It becomes a game of life or death for Glenn and and his family.

Hi Dan, I was intrigued by your pitch and actually read the first part of your book a week or so ago and added it to my watchlist. I really liked the premise and would have read more except for time constraints. I will go back and read more and comment but for now I've put it on my shelf. Ch... view book

Mary, although this is not my usual reading fare, I found your book intriguing enough to have a read, and I can say I was not disappointed! Your work is solid and well written. I certainly thought that the finding of a piece of amber was delightful (amber figures prominently in my work;^) and the ... view book

Good stuff Bob. Sorry it's take a while to comment, but I had a chance to get started on this the other day and backed it based on the prologue. BTW I think this would be easier to read if not in italics. After all it is set apart from the rest of the text and doesn't need the emphasis. Just my ... view book

Patricia, I've just had a chance to read the opening chapter and I am delighted by what I've read. You have a remarkable voice, clear and unpretentious. I really the premise, perhaps because I can 'relate' to Mary's life, as we used to say in the sixties! ;^) The hook is a good one because it ef... view book

Hi Matt, I finally got around to reading WPWT and I regret having taken so long. This promises to be a wonderful adventure; I I am already caught up in the action. The conflict starts right away, and though I am little unbalanced at first, I soon the the hang of the back-and-forth between characte... view book
