about me

After writing children's magazine stories and devotionals, I turned to Christian romance novels and found my writing niche. I have fourteen books published and have recently discovered ebook publishing with my latest book, Learning to Lean. This family story of learning to trust, love, and laugh can be found on www.amazon.com's kindle store.

I'm a member of ACFW and a couple of wonderful critique groups. Both are so very beneficial to my writing. Hopefully I give back at least half what I receive from this support.

I am currently working on Love Returned. This is a story of finding peace, fullment, love, and family after being wronged and giving up a most precious gift. Love Returned is scheduled for ebook publication soon.

My favorite published books are those set in the late 1800s that contain faith in God, love, and a touch of humor.

A New Life

Mildred Colvin

She’s city. He’s Country. She just found out they have something in common. Her son!

Kimberly Burris and Travis Graham have a past. Circumstances and family caused their break-up seven years ago and both married other people. Now they’re single again, and Kimberly has shocking news. DNA proves without doubt her husband is not the father of her son. That leaves only one choice. Accept the housekeeping job on Travis’s ranch and pray for courage to tell him he’s the father of her six-year-old son. Travis lost his wife and son and feels he’s to blame. He figures Kim won’t last in the country, and he fears her city-bred son will get hurt, or worse, on his ranch. The kid appeals to Travis in a way he doesn’t understand, but there are too many dangers on a ranch for a small child. So he tells Kim her boy had better stay out of the way, or they’ll have to leave. Kimberly has to decide what’s best—keeping her secret from Travis and her son or taking the chance that Travis will become the father their son desperately needs.

Lesson of the Poinsettia

Mildred Colvin

A nine-year-old girl and a flower teach a man and woman a lesson in love.

Abigail Stevens is part owner of Kingson Steel, but she lets her older sister take care of business while she hides in the darkness. Nine years ago Abigail lost her sight when fever struck, and she’s given up on leading a normal life. Then her nine-year-old neighbor sneaks across the street to see Abigail’s flowers and her father soon follows. Because of the lesson in Abigail’s Poinsettias, Abigail and Seth learn to see beyond the darkness of their lives and in the process find love to last a lifetime.

Learning to Lean

Mildred Colvin

Widowed mother of three struggles with financial insecurity only to meet an apparently poor father of three who sets her heart racing.

Heather Conway, daycare owner and widowed mother of three, has no extra money and very little faith. Where was God when her husband died, leaving her with no insurance, no income, and facing bankruptcy? Her fourteen-year-old son is out of control, she needs something better than their two-bedroom rental to live in, and she just bumped into a man who has her heart beating overtime. If she were sensible, she’d latch onto a childless, wealthy man who could give her the security she craves. Matt Sanders has just moved to town with his three kids and placed them into Heather’s daycare while he gets his Jack-of-all-trades construction/repair business off the ground. He may appear to be poor, but he has more going for him than meets the eye. His admiration for Heather soon turns into love as their families intertwine through church activities and work on her daycare. But six kids? Maybe Matt and Heather would be better off as friends. They soon find it’s hard to let go of the security they see and blindly trust God to take care of their tomorrows. Learning to lean on God can take a lifetime or maybe only a lesson in trust.

You have a very interesting and original idea going here. I don' t think I could be so understanding as Emma. It's interesting to read a different view of such a thing as most women would have walked right off, especially after the baby became known about. I wish you the best with your story. view book
