about me

I am a 24 year old Oklahoman braving the northern weather of Michigan for law school! I love writing, reading, drawing, running and doing just about anything that's fun. Movies are an obsession, as is music ( the best of literary muses for a writer). I've traveled the world and can boast of having seen the Mona Lisa three different times!

I've written five full length novels and am just in the process of editing them all and seeking help from a publisher to get them out on the shelves!

**** My novel The Amulet of Osiris was recently a Quarter-Finalist in the Amazon.com Breaththrough Novel Award (in other words it made the top 250 out of 5,000 entries for the Young Adult Genre. Publishers Weekly reviewed it saying "This earnest ghost story romance centers on beautiful 17-year-old Emma Swinburne, who routinely quotes poetry written by her family and cites motivations from Jane Austen’s most popular characters, tantalizing her new neighbor, Jeremy Craven. When Emma remains aloof to his charm, Jeremy becomes obsessed. Making things more complicated, previously solitary Emma develops a fast friendship with Jeremy’s former best friend and current enemy, Cassie Banks, who helps Emma uncover the dark secrets contained within the haunted neighborhood mansion that often commands Emma’s attention. Emma also finds her one true love, Richard. The trouble: he’s been dead for a century, was murdered by Jeremy’s ancestor, and has a secret tied to a dangerous discovery made during his father’s Egyptian archaeological dig... set-up has potential and precedence (the Victorians eagerly devoured artifacts both exotic and supernatural)..."

The Amulet of Osiris

Lauren Diana Smith

A ghostly romance centering around a lonely teenage girl and a century old ghost of a young man as they fight an ancient evil.

Seventeen year old Emma, moved to a Victorian suburb of Boston, finds herself attracted to a mansion and its ghost, Richard. The first time she sees him, Emma thought he was made of stardust and moonbeams. Richard shares the secret of the Amulet of Osiris, which for over two thousand years has driven men to kill for it.
Others know its secret. The ghost of Richard’s murderer, Edgar, also knows of its power. Emma and Richard have to find a way to keep the amulet safe and release Richard from his ghostly prison.
Emma and her friend Cassie try to find a way to release Richard’ soul, Edgar hounds them every step of the way. To complicate matters, Emma has to fight off the attentions of Jeremy, the high school golden boy. The line between friends and enemies blurs as Emma struggles to release Richard and neutralize the amulet before it is too late.
On Halloween Edgar releases an evil that could destroy the world. It is up to Richard and Emma to stop it from covering the world in darkness. Is Emma’s love strong enough to change his destiny?

Embrace of the Midnight Rose

Lauren Diana Smith

A woman without a past pays a price for her new life with blood. Only her handsome rescuer holds the key to her past.

Rescued by the handsome and enigmatic Peter Gray, she learns through his sharing of a story that she is the last of ancient bloodline that he has sworn to protect.

Her death and rebirth in blood is only the final step in the game between Peter and his enemy Giovanni, the price: possession of Abigail’s soul.

In a twisted triangle of lust, murder and love, they fight for control over Abigail and the new powers she wields.

Despite Abigail’s growing love for Peter, a ghost of woman long dead lingers between them, helping Giovanni fight for Abigail’s body and soul in ways she hadn’t thought possible.

In a race against time, Abigail has to find a way to defeat Giovanni and break his hold on her or else Peter and everyone she holds dear will die…

Backed! I really liked the tone you set right off. I'm usually not a huge thriller suspense fan, but after having read your excerpt, I would really pick this up if I saw it a bookshelf. It's a page turner but it has a strong narrative voice that has more literary merit than most thrillers I've re... view book

I LOVE this book! It's so great! It is an excellent take on the werewolf mythology as it might actually be in reality if werewolves did exist and reading this beautiful descriptive work makes me very much a believer!! I've read the full book of course, as well as a majority of the sequel, and can... view book
