about me

I am currently not an aspiring professional writer, but, as a lover of books, I am very excited and intrigued by this website and by the power it gives to the common people to select books for publishing. I originally joined in order to back a particular book, Relic by Abigail Knight (please read it, if you have the time!) but I find that I've been sucked in by this website, and am now addicted to rooting out good future books.

I don't back books that I don't think have potential. However if I like an MS a lot, I will push your book as hard as possible, so it's always worth asking me to take a look, and I love it when you do!

Update as of 12/7/10: I apologize for going on hiatus, and am particularly sorry that I did not get the chance to look over the books of the lovely people who messaged me. From now on, I am back in business and searching for great reads.

This is really good so far--as trainspotter mentioned, you are very good at building the tension. in my opinion the first chapter is gripping enough that it would almost be better to get rid of your prologue, which I find to be too cliched and not enough in sync with the tone of the rest of the stor... view book

You have some great ideas here, and you start off with a bang, which really helps to get my attention. That being said, it might help to rethink how you introduce the world. I know things become clearer as they go, but I felt that your opening line was very abrupt, without enough setting of the scen... view book

Ida, This is wonderfully moving, and something that I can see people I know reading (my mother loves medical-related stories). Backed with pleasure! If you have the time, please check out Brahma's Twilight by Barry Wenlock. I think you might enjoy it. Best, KL view book

Barry, Your writing is wonderful--I love the setting you've depicted, the way India comes alive through your words, and your characters are touching and easy to relate to. I'm happy to back this. If you have the time, please check out Silver Flows East by E. Yazykova. She writes in quite a differe... view book

This gripped me straight from the summary, and didn't disappoint when I began reading the actual book. The opening scene was chilling, as are the hints of the supernatural early on, and you're right about the Catholicism striking a chord. Backed with pleasure! If you have the time, please check out ... view book
