about me

My name is Julius Whitfield. I'm a fan and writer of fiction. My favorite novels have always been the ones of the unknown. Stories of the supernatural, whether they be dramatic or horror, they have always been admiring to me. And while I like to write stories, I'm huge a fan of poetry, preferably prose, but I'm always willing to dabble in other forms. I'm also a fan of graphic novels and low-brow artists as I do dabble in drawing now and again.

Have written a series of short stories called A Proclamation of Death--a collection of fictional horror stories based on urban legends--and have my novel The Misery Jar on here ready for an audience and critiquing. Currently working on a dark comedy/horror novella about Death and obsession called The Hard-Hearted Gourmandism that's still in its first draft.

The Misery Jar is also on Amazon in the second link below for anyone looking to purchase it (for physical-mediaphiles)

I am not a selfish writer. I am willing to read and critique/comment and support writers with honest and subjective reads for a return backing and critique.

The Misery Jar

JC Whitfield

There are things more perpetual than love. There are evils so old, so mysteriously murky, that all they know is dread.

In an atmosphere of violent supremacy, Stephen Roeder contested the darkness and thought he could do it with peace and love. But some only need a gentle push into conflict to change their outlook on humanity. Once an essence of evil in his youth, constructing vampire tortures for his own amusement, maturing to creating a nonviolent cessation of old wars between vampires and humans hoping he could improve the tattered relations with synthetic blood, Stephen's evil returned in the heat of seeing his wife in the arms of lechery. Now no one is safe from his bloodshed, his primal mania, from the unleashing of the misery jar.

The Angel Cord is a well-honed story with strong narration and is technically sound by the author. The imagery is captivating and the dialogue is superb. From the cover to the pitch of the book, this is already an attention-grabber. You have an intriguing tale here that can draw in a wide variety of... view book

Thank you Cara for taking the time to read The Misery Jar and to enjoy it--it really means a lot that you liked what you read and took the time to leave a very constructed review. One of my favorite reviews of it by far. I'm glad you liked Chapter 5. It is one of my favorites, too. To answer... view book

Read a few chapters so far and will continue, but I had to say this is good work. It's a very literate and sharp piece of work that tongue ties the mind and sometimes forces the audience to re-read certain lies if they aren't quick at the draw--just the way I like it. The vernacular is a bit tough i... view book

Magic of the Frogs is just THAT--magical. I haven't read a children's book in some time, but I can honestly say this is great, especially for children and for teenagers and adults its very fanciful and splendid. It's pace is neat and constant, the characters are brilliant in their design, your writi... view book

Mr. and Mrs. Grassroots is an interesting and neatly fascinating read. I'm not too keen on autobiographies or biographies, but this one was able to draw me in and keep me gripped. This really gives revelation of our president and the person he is. There is great energy and verge in your writing that... view book
