about me

I come from a family steeped in railroad tradition and grew up during the twilight of steam power listening to tales from my father, brother and uncle, all lifelong employees of the B&O Railroad. As such, railroads play a prominent role in many of my novels.

After high school came the US Army, serving two tours of duty in Germany. Upon discharge, I joined the Baltimore City Police Department and was assigned to the Southern District, an area which occasionally appears in my writings.

When not writing, I can be found in the family garage tinkering with my 1928 Ford Model A.

favourite books

Anything from Agatha Christie or Dorothy Saylers. I also like the early Martha Grimes mysteries. Currently reading M C Beaton's Hamish Macbeth and Anne Perry's Inspector Pitt novels

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the backing! I'm attempting to place your book on my watchlist. I'm saying attempt, see the thread: I HAVE TRIED OVER 30 HOURS TRYING TO UPLOAD MY BOOK!!! on the form. Seems a lot of us are unable to back or even watchlist books. Your site is apparently one of the fortunate... view book

Hi Aimee, I agree with The tinman. not my genre, but quality writing. Backed. Only two nit-picks; #1 I would get rid of the last sentence in paragraph one, "At least it was morning." I can't give you a good reason other than it is redundant, The first sentence tells us Frederick is waking... view book

Hi Raymond, Wow, what an opening! Wonderful cover. I'm intrigued by the Victorian era, having read Anne Perry's novels and wasn't disappointed in your offering. All the best, Ray view book

Hi Susan, Backed! I believe the same thing happened a few years ago with a town bully, a shotgun and a pool table. FBI was called in and to my knowledge they never did find the one responsible. Now onto the book. Great jacket , prologue and descriptive writing. I could almost feel the heat... view book

Hi Patrick, Will gladly add this to my shelf. Way out of my normal reading, but I do appreciate your writing skills. I especially like the prologue. As to the Chinaman in chapter one; I would make it a bit clearer that he was holding a detached rifle or spotter's scope and not an actual rifle i... view book
