Can Jake Greene escape the reality he's created? Or will it ultimately destroy him in the end?
Dreamer tells the story of Jake Greene, a lawyer from New York with a traumatic past and a hateful outlook on life who discovers a revolutionary device that might be the answer to his problems. Vector Industries, the world leader in technology, has a recent invention, called the "Imaginarium Chair", that allows somebody experiencing depression, or simple curiosity, to sit down and create entire worlds in the dreaming "grid". Through a program designed by the chair's inventor, Dr. Ellis, depressed users are cured during three months of treatment on the chair, and after that his program will keep them from backsliding into gloomy days from the past. The chair catches Jake's interest, and Dr. Ellis recruits him to the program as the first ever test subject volunteer. Little does Jake realize that Dr. Ellis has ulterior motives, as does the United States Government, who funded the chair project. As he delves further and further into the realm of mystique, betrayal, and virtual reality, Jake uncovers a plot so complex, it might change the course of human history. Now he must find a way out of the reality he has become a part of, or die trying.
