about me

PLEASE DON'T PITCH YOUR BOOK ON MY WALL. If you want to swap reads...just go read mine and leave a (non generic) comment. I will return the favor THEN. :)

I REALLY APPRECIATE FEEDBACK!!! Actual feedback, not generic compliments from someone who is just hoping to get a return or backing. If you want to ACTUALLY critique MORE than just the first few paragraphs of each other's work, let me know. I'd be more than happy :)

(Sorry I'm not too interested in reading sci fi, murder mysteries..or anything too 'heavy')

Right now I am currently revising BOTH novels, so your opinions are a big help, especially on the later chapters. :)

PLEASE KINDLY POINT OUT MY FLAWS!!!

I am my own worst critic. Problem is I no longer see any of my mistakes because I've read it too many times...

ALSO, I PROFESSIONALLY DESIGN BOOK COVERS!!!!
If anyone is interested please let me know!!!

Thanks SO SO SO SO SO much!!

BIO:
Cheryl Petro enjoys taking creative writing and grammar courses at the University of Calgary. She developed her passion for story telling after winning first place in a short story contest in grade three. Since then, she has written several magazine articles, poems, and full-length novels. Liquid Comfort will be her first novel published. She is 32 years old and lives in Alberta, Canada.

A NOTE ABOUT ME:
Although I grew up on the prairies, I consider myself a soul-surfer. I rode my first wave at Waikiki Beach when I was eight years old, and it quickly became one of my biggest passions. I visit the Hawaiian Islands regularly, spending most of my time on the North Shore of Oahu. I may not be a local, but the spirit of aloha lives in my heart.

It is no secret that Liquid Comfort was inspired by my love of the ocean, however it is more than just a surf story. My greatest desire when I write is to infuse a story with culture, educate the reader on a topic, and teach a valuable life lesson along the way.

Growing up on the streets when I was fifteen years old placed me in diverse situations. Liquid Comfort focuses on many of the issues I was forced to deal with such as drug and alcohol addiction, rebellion, tragedy and grief. Through these hardships I learned a great deal about what not to do and how to overcome adversity, and I hope to pass that on in my writing.

I now run a successful business and home, and I am working on my next novel.

Damn You

Cheryl Petro

What if you were an angel and had to judge a human life?
Would you send that person to heaven ...or hell?

Tazza, a newborn angel born in the Garden of Eyyden, hopes to gain her Guideian status. To do so, she must pass three trials, given to her by the Archangel Chief Prince Mika’il.

Her first test is to judge a human life.

Lucis, God of Light and the creator of all things Good, has sealed the planet of Earth in an attempt to keep darkness out. As He can no longer interfere, it is up to Tazza to guide this person back towards goodness and light.

If she can figure out how.

Daynan has not had an easy childhood. Abandoned by his meth-addicted mother and growing up in foster homes has left him a bitter young man with no concern for his future. Drugs, sex, stealing ... and murder? The choices are his to make. Little does he know he's being watched.

What if you were an angel and had to judge a human life?

Would you send that person to Heaven or Hell?

MORE CHAPTERS COMING SOON!!!

Liquid Comfort

Cheryl Petro

There are many forms of comfort.
Some will drown you. Others will keep you afloat.

Sometimes the ocean hands you an unexpected wave.

Travis Kelly wants nothing more than to win the world surfing championship and show up his rival, Kane, but when he loses his arm in a shark attack, he finds himself floating in a world of desolation. Surfing is his life. How will he cope? By drowning his sorrows in alcohol, he runs the risk of following in his dead-beat brother’s footsteps--a path of addiction he despises, yet seems drawn towards.

Devin Kelly is addicted to cocaine. After giving up his pro surfing career for a life of white powder and empty promises, he refuses to take care of his daughter and ditches his family, preferring to live in a self-absorbed haze.

Surfing is more popular than ever among today’s youth, yet surf-fiction is very hard to find. With a touch of Hawaiian culture and authentic Pidgin English dialogue, Liquid Comfort is a stirring tale of anguish, addiction, determination and love.

There are many forms of comfort. Some will drown you. Others will keep you afloat.
Hang on for a gnarly ride!

THANKS EVERYONE!!! I SO APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK :)

PS: This book is NOT a religious novel. I do not wish to sell it to Christian bookstores and do not believe in "organized" religion. Although I have used spiritual theories such as Heaven, Hell and the Garden of Eden as my settings, these are simply meant as places of fiction. The characters: th... view book

Great story! Overcoming addictions is a favorite topic of mine :) My only advise so far is to break up some of your dialogue with some narrative :) It's great that you get right to the action, but I think some description would make it flow a bit better :) Hope that helps and best of luck with this... view book

Loved your pitch and thought this was a great idea for a story, so thought I'd stop by for a read :) Starts out good but I did think the dialogue went on a bit too long when they were talking to their Dad before work...but the next few chapters flew by nicely. Loved the emotional turmoil/mixed fe... view book

Wow...what an amazing chapter (2). I must say your talent for description MUCH surpasses mine. Loved your imagery: churning clean crisp; spectacular oceanic ballet; veritable aquarium of spectres; writhing storming salted abyss. Your words definitely make me breathe the wave, feel it, crave it. Som... view book

K...you asked for an opinion (and since I liked the way you asked hahah...here I am) I tend to give harsh critiques...but don't mean them to be harsh, only helpful.
