about me

*Taking a break from writing... This book is killing me!*
Will be back at an unknown time.

S.A.H.M. by day, ambitious litterary super hero by night! Ok, that's partially a lie. I haven't saved anyone with my talented/lack of (who knows?) writing skills, but I do find it immensly important to tell the truth. Especially when it comes to writing. My experience stops short of having a p.o.d. poetry book, and high school poetry contest. I consider carrying another human being around for nine months without becoming completly psychotic quite the feat, but it doesn't impress employers much when you put it on your resume.

The Preacher's Girl is unedited, so deep critiques are more than welcome

favourite books

It's not my favorite, but it is my own, so I suppose "Confessions of a Guinea Pig" by yours truely. The writing and editing are subpar, but I was a teenager still, so sue me.
Dr. Suess is high on the list with my three year old in tow, but personally I read anything I can get my hands on.

The Preacher's Girl

J M. Smith

One year may not seem like much, but for Cleopatra Harper, that's all it took for the world to come crashing down on her head.

1969 was a year forgotten. All the events before and after seem to take precedent to all the tension that built up and flowed over into 1970. For Cleopatra Harper 1969 was the year she went off into the world for the first time and learned to see with new eyes. Verbally and physically abused by her parents, Cleo was content to live in the sheltered world they had built around her. Things change, however, when her first year of college opens her to up to racial, sexual equality, feminism, and all the damnation that comes with fighting for what you believe in. Open to love and a person she never knew she could become, she finds the strength to put her racism aside and fights to follow her dreams before the world can shut her up forever.
