about me

Pouring a small measure of Brandy, he lights a cigarette and stares at the keyboard for twenty minutes. There’s no such thing as writers block. He’d read it somewhere, in a book, or maybe he heard it at his writing group. Another small measure, another cigarette, another twenty minutes pass.
Eventually, after several shots, and countless cigarettes, the words flow, and brain to keyboard connect. He closes the laptop with a feeling of accomplishment.
The following day, void of the many small measures, he reads his work, then sinks in despair. Pressing delete, he stares at the keyboard. Twenty long minutes pass. He pours himself a small measure, and lights a cigarette.

Well, that just about sums me up when I do knuckle down to my writing, but it's not always like that... sometimes I actually flow.

I have uploaded A Second City Storm, which is not complete and in first draft. Sorry for any typo’s and there may be areas that need improving. Please feel free to leave a comment, as it can only help improve its journey forward.

My latest novel, Still Waters, is now uploaded. If you wish to read all of it, then please contact me and I will e-mail you the rest. I would dearly love comments and feedback on this.

If I promised to read your book, please bug me, as at the moment, I'm in deep edit mode on another novel I'll be posting soon.

And please, if you have read this far, take a look at these links. It's only a click, and a lot of support. Thankyou.

Still Waters

Christopher Tiller

Sam’s life takes a path, leading him into a dark, forbidden world. What Sam does not realise, is that path had already begun.

Sam Morgan has lived in Whitechurch, a tower block on Newbridge estate, for as long as he can remember. Aged eleven, he can see why his mother is changing, because Billy, his latest stepfather, makes her drink more, and when she drinks, she isn’t mom anymore.

At the age of thirteen, along with his mother and sister, he moves across the city to start a new life without Billy. Things are better, mom still drinks, and there are no more late night visits from ‘Dad.’

Sam discovers a friend in Michael, a neighbour across the street, and a place to escape.
Then unexpectedly, Billy turns up, and the painful routine begins again.
A tragic accident shakes Sam to the core, leaving him guilt ridden and more isolated than before.

Learning the truth about his mother’s past, and feeling confused over his sexuality, life no longer makes sense. Rejected by Michael, Sam begins to come apart, sending him on a journey in search for the ‘real’ father who left him behind. His journey leads him to Ben, a troubled teen with his own story to tell, and a dark impermissible place Sam has already tasted.

A Second City Storm

Christopher Tiller

The Devane family from Northern Ireland settle for a new life in the heart of England, until the City erupts.

On this day, November 21st 1974, the heart of Birmingham explodes at the hands of the terrorist group, PIRA. Considered to be one of the worst attacks of terror in UK history, it will begin a journey into personal suffering, hatred, and broken family bonds for the Devane family. As one nightmare ends, another begins.

Going Away: A short memoir ....

Christopher Tiller

For young Emmet, growing up is no longer about getting taller, but watching his family grow smaller.

Things change because things do, and change is something that is happening far too quickly for Emmet. His small safe world is unfolding, opening up to new realities and comprehensions he would rather not have, as those he loves, those who surround him, are going away.

Going Away is a light hearted yet poignant short memoir of a young boy trying to make sense of his experience in a changing home environment.

Yes, the comments were very useful, and I've already made some of those changes. Regarding the use of Mom - it is how it's spelled in the midlands. On saying that, it could confuse readers and set an American scene in their heads. On the full pitch, it says - Set in a midland county in the early ... view book

Maybe this book should never be published. It could give the government ideas. :-) I found the story delightful and amusing as I imagined this family all taking their turn to peddle away, so each member could have their comfort time. I couldn't help but chuckle as I read on. I like the way you... view book

Sharda, I thought I'd run this by you first, before posting. It is my honest opinion. Chapter one hooked me from the start, and I found it easy reading, as it should be if it is intended for YA. Though I admit, I do not usually read YA. I think you have captured Julia really well – how s... view book

I’m up to chapter twenty two. To be honest, when I began reading this, I thought, it’s not my thing. I like doom and gloom, and like to read stuff that makes me depressed. Yes. I have issues. It made me laugh, a lot - I help old ladies to cross the street and I only ever lost one. Sometimes the gou... view book

We were as cold and hard as the diamonds we wore on our fingers and our throats - I liked that. All I saw was the blood, and Darren - Makes me want to read on. A thousand questions flitted through his soft toffee eyes ... Toffee shot off the page for me. Would just soft eyes read better? Just ... view book
