about me

I was becoming too addicted to Authonomy and not writing (gasp)! Much like Facebook and other community sites, Authonomy has to take a back seat. I will read and critique still, it just might take a little bit longer for me to respond.

After several years of thinking about writing a book, I actually sat down and started doing it. Wouldn't you know that was like opening Pandora's Box? Now I have a library in my head with future books literally knocking on the inside of my skull, begging to be let out and written. I'm not out to write the next literary masterpiece, I write for entertainment with hopes that others will be entertained and will temporarily get lost in a different world. While my protaganists may be strong women, my books aren't necessarily "chick lit".

I live in Portland, Maine with my husband and stepson, but was raised a Jersey girl. I received a BA in Journalism from Temple University, have a background in marketing and advertising and currently work full-time selling advertising for two national healthcare newspapers.

Some of my favorite books include:

Cancerville

EJ Fechenda

Cancer is bad, losing your best friend to the disease is even worse, discovering the government is responsible makes Ashley a marked woman.

Cancer is a fact of life. When Ashley Griffin's best friend, Andrea Hamilton, succumbs to the disease she struggles to find out why. She researches her town's long history with Bryce, Andrea's teenage son, at her side. They uncover dark secrets that involve the country''s top three chemical companies and implicate the government.

High cancer rates and missing person cases are more than a coincidence and when Ashley and Bryce get too close to uncovering the truth, their lives are threatened. Ashley and her husband are abducted and Bryce runs away in fear. Ashley's father, a prominent senator, struggles to find her daughter and in doing so the dark side of the White House is revealed.

A race ensues to save his daughter's life and to decide whether to tell the truth, a move which is surely political suicide. Welcome to Cancerville.

Cancerville is 100% fiction. A work in progress since 2000, before I was even diagnosed with an environmental cancer. The subject matter is close to my heart and many of the statistics are from actual research. Many think I should write this under an alias as I might be hitting closer to the truth! Conspiracy theorists enjoy!

The Beautiful People

EJ Fechenda

What happens when Natalie, a college student, finds out her brother is a hit man for the Philly Mob? Trouble happens. And lots of it.

Natalie Ross doesn't think life can get any better when she gets a job at the hottest nightclub in Philadelphia, where her brother works. It does get better when the owner of the club's nephew falls for Natalie and starts to heal her damaged heart. After she witnesses her brother kill three men, Natalie finds out he's a soldier for the Philly Mob and she is unwittingly sucked into the Philadelphia Mafia.

Initially Natalie is enamored with the mafia - it offers a close knit family she has craved her entire life. She soon learns that this "family's" values are more than skewed. A series of traumatic events comes to a violent end when she kills a man in self defense and flees the city, leaving her family and everything she knows behind.

The Beautiful People is the first book in a series that follows Natalie Ross as she struggles to maintain her morality, seek forgiveness and ulitmately find peace with her past and herself.

The first draft is complete at 84,000+ words and revisions are in progress...

Hi Lorraine, As I have much writing to do, I only read the first two or three chapters. What I've read so far is awesome. The first chapter is gruesome in detail and sinister - and made me want to keep reading! The conflict with Finn is interesting and the gangster element adds to the gritty ton... view book

Hi T.L., This is a great read! You establish Billie's closeness with her father so effectively in the first chapter, that I found myself feeling her loss in the next. She is strong willed and I am quick to stand behind her and cheer. The details of the ship and her crew, as well as the period dia... view book

Hi Tony, Wow, interesting story you have going on here. I like the concept of the mysterious black cloud. You have a good pace and are developing the characters well. There are a few errorsfor example, when Filip is introduced you say he was a cub reported, not reporter. Another nit is that as Ta... view book

Hi Robert, Wow! This is smart, gripping and very well written. Your medical knowledge is evident and I like that you didn't waste any time getting to the murder mystery. The characters are being developed nicely and you touch on a seperate storyline with the cases that Charolotte Westbrook handl... view book

Hi C.A., Your pitch caught my attention as my MC in The Beautiful People also struggles with the drink after some trauma. Emma's character is being developed nicely and I like that Susana in introduced to add some unspoken tension between Emma and Juan. The scenery is described beautifully and I ... view book
