about me

I will be 51 until next March 17, and I live in Kansas City, Missouri. I currently write humor and technical articles for trade journals--84 published to date--and play lead guitar and hammered dulcimer in a rock cover band. While "Retreat" isn't my first novel, it's the first one I would deign to let someone read.

I vow not to request read swaps. Either I make it on my pitch and the merits of my product, or I don't. But I will return all reads.

The first chapter of "Retreat" has strange gaps between words in places, which I can't seem to fix.

Sly, this is as good a thriller as anything I've ever purchased. The writing EXUDES confidence, I mean, using "sycophant" as a verb. Never heard of it, never would've thought of it, and it's just too cool. I like what you've done with the POV's. I hope the editors agree, the schmucks. You never put ... view book

It is very easy to get drawn in to this story with your vivid and realistic depiction of an ancient Celtic world. And your attention to detail is impressive, for instance the story behind the "Hunter Constellation." The tempo and pacing is right on the money, and right away I wanted to know who made... view book

I would buy this for my kids in a heartbeat, and they could read after I did. I'm already imagining the movie version. I don't have any helpful insights. It seems very well written to me, and I think you end your chapters effectively to keep the pages turning. Backed. view book

This is a story I would like my grandchildren to read. You have rendered a beautiful depiction of a time and place, elements and events that few of us even know existed. The writing is smooth and straightforward, but the tension is there in the plight of the swans. I can hear the Irish in Glenda and... view book

I can back this on the imagination and the quality of the writing alone. I see this doing a brisk business in the bookstores. Shelved. view book
