about me

I'm a tech writer at the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground where I document tests performed on armored combat vehicles. It’s not nearly as exciting as it might sound, though I sometimes get to see (and cause) some spectacularly huge explosions.

Before moving to Yuma, Arizona (it’s not Hell but you can see it from here) I worked as a historical interpreter at a living history museum in Salt Lake City. There, I demonstrated wet-plate photography using authentic lenses and cameras while inhaling a distressingly large volume of diethyl ether.

I've also, at various times and places, worked as a semi-conductor fabricator, a property developer, and a commercial driver. I also taught English for two years in Taiwan, during which I earned an undergraduate degree in Mandarin Chinese. While in Taiwan I ate dog, which tastes like really bad venison.

I’m always impressed by someone who manages to complete a book-length manuscript, let alone a manuscript that’s readable and entertaining. SPIN caught my interest in two subjects that interest me: 1) the arcana of high-end securities trading and, 2) large and medium format photography. I’m curious ... view book

Hi, Freddie. Wonderful, simply wonderful. I doubt there's anything else I can say that hasn't already been covered by one of the 489 comments that precede me so I won't even try. Backing this. --Eric view book

As a bona fide red neck and a card-carrying member of the National Rifle Association, I loathe and despise all things French. I am, however, happy to make an exception for Neferatu and the Red Queen, in which the main character is an archeologist of French extraction. The title is simply wonderful... view book

Very good first sentence: “My disguise was almost perfect.” I would suggest adding a hard paragraph break after that first sentence, deleting “Almost”, and starting the second paragraph with “I had carefully picked out a…” & etc. The part about needing to do a panty shift in the middle of a crowde... view book
