Wow, I've been gone ages. Busy, busy, busy, with very little writing involved. Must try to get back into the swing of things. Sorry to everyone whose messages I've ignored!I work with deaf children aged 7-11 and am currently working on my first novel.
I am a big fan of classic quality children's picture books, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiger Who Came To Tea and those by Shirley Hughes and Michael Rosen. I will read these whenever I get a chance and luckily they're all very short. In terms of adult books, my favourite authors would include C S Lewis, Robin Cook and Torey Hayden. I have recently enjoyed December by Elizabeth H Winthrop and The Day of the Triffids by What's His Name.

While I share some of the other commenter's feelings about Tasmin's English ability, I know some deaf people who have managed this and I think if it were done any other way it wo... view book
Well this is certainly a case of "First Sentence Shelving," by which I mean I knew almost instantly that if I saw this in a book shop I would buy it. view book
Funny, unusual and disgusting - what more could a child want? I know several little boys who I would definitely recommend this to. view book
I like the prologue. I think it's great. If it were longer, perhaps I would get fed up with the confusion and close the book. But as it is, it simply conveys to me that things in this guy's head are very mixed up. It intrigued me. view book
