about me

I'm a self professed military history buff. I prefer 20th century military history, but am not averse to going back to the days of chariots and swords. My favorite subject is aviation. I'm not picky. Biplanes to B-2s and everything in between. Now and then I read some sci-fi or medieval styled fantasy to escape from reality.

UPDATE! Valkyrie Squadron has just landed a publisher. The E-book will be out shortly and the print copy hopefully in a few months. The sequel, Devil's Payload is eagerly awaiting its turn and my third book, The Black Widows, is well under way.

Valkyrie Squadron

Alex M. Taylor

The day after Christmas, the alarm goes off and the men of the Strategic Air Command sprint for their nuclear armed B-70 bombers.

During the chilliest days of the Cold War, bombardier Captain Mike Randall arrives at desolate Glasgow Air Force Base and discovers the B-52s are leaving and nobody knows what he will be flying. On April Fool’s Day, he is shepherded into a previously off limits hangar where the wing commander unveils a brand new, gleaming white aircraft, the North American B-70 Valkyrie.

After catching their breath, the men are thrust into training. Quickly declared Combat Mission Ready, Mike and his crew are placed on alert, ready to defend the country at a moment's notice. Without warning, the klaxon goes off and the men sprint across the windswept flight line to their Valkyries. As the B-70s scramble down the runway on their way to Russia, one crew wonders if its the beginning of World War III.

Valkyrie Squadron is in the process of being published and its sequel, Devil's Payload, is finished as well. The e-book will be available soon and the hardcopy not long after.

The Black Widows

Alex M. Taylor

The Middle East is aflame and everything the United States has is impotent to intervene. Enter the Black Widows, the U.S.'s ace in the hole.

Ramadan 2012.

Internal conflict in Iraq degenerates into a civil war. While the government waffles on asking the United States for help, the rebels quickly begin receiving aid from Iran. By the time the Iraqi Prime Minister agrees to allow U.S. troops back in, the conflict is too hot for the President to dare send ground forces in right before the elections. He commits naval and air assets hoping they will be enough to calm the situation. The forces only serve to escalate the conflict, leading to Iran declaring the entire Persian Gulf blockaded and trapping the supercarrier U.S.S. George H. Bush in the Gulf. Additionally, the much vaunted F-22 stealth fighter is detectable by upgraded Iranian radar.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, the U.S. sends in their secret weapon, a squadron of F-23 Black Widows, flown by a hand-picked group from the 13th Fighter Interceptor Squadron out of a long thought abandoned base in Montana. The 13th isn't in theater long before the Iranians up the ante by detonating their first atomic weapon. With the fate of the cradle of civilization at stake, the Black Widows are given a suicide mission. Get the nukes.

You've got a good start here. You can ratchet up the tension and keep the reader wanting more. I like how we've also seen a good amount of background story without it distracting from the main plot. Backed view book

Sorry HarperCollins, but I think you're wrong. Perfectly polished it's not, but the story is still a good read. I'd still buy it to find out how it ends. view book

Les Moore for President!!! I'd vote for the man. You accurately portray a down to earth common man and I love it. Thanks for sharing your work. Good luck view book

Creepy and entertaining all at once. A well written book. Although some might think you spend too much time on the minor things and describing the scenes, it really fleshes out everything in my mind. I can see it all, even if I don't really want to. Excellent, Shelved. Alex view book
