about me

Canadian author living in Toronto. I live alone with my six cats in an old house in downtown Toronto.

I have written one short non fiction spiritual book and a number of fiction books -- short story/novella collections and three novels. Mostly horror or fright fiction that also shifts into comedy, sci fi and fantasy.
----------------------------

favourite books

* The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

* Leo Tolstoy's short stories & so much other stuff I can't list it all.

Generally my favorites are fiction ... from short-short to novel length. Though I dislike long novels that are padded for length. I love novellas, too.
I love stories written in the first person and third person as well. Voice and the internal logic of a story are very important to me. If you have some wisdom to impart and a good literary style combined with storytelling skills, you have a voice.

The Rainmaker & Other Tales

Gary Morton

Self published Eight modern tales of horror and horror/sci fi. The Rainmaker being the opening novella and most commercial.

This is the review of the book at Amazon.com Cringe worthy tales of horror to delight...., March 20, 2010 By G. Reba (Panama City, FL) The Rainmaker & Other Tales by Gary Morton takes you inside the dark places of the mind with eight tales to boggle the mind. Taking his cue from the true horror stories of old, Mr. Morton delivers a blood-stained, monster filled book of curiosities that will have you employing the use of that long retired night light. He tackles the darkness that lives in mankind's soul and with his unique writing style, manages to turn it from an everyday thing to be dealt with into a presence that is larger then life. One of the shorter tales entitled "King Flame's Underground Party" tells of the Deliveryman and his final package of the night....or perhaps of his life after seeing the gates to the underworld open before his eyes. A spine-tingling read to say the very least, step into a world of zombies, demons, and all the horrors one could imagine....and then add a few more from his own mind's eye.

Channeling the Demon

Gary Morton

This book is supernatural horror fiction. I wrote it to be non stop action and fright from beginning to end.

Channeling the Demon is a novel of occult action and supernatural horror. A demon king from another reality uses a spirit channeler and the priests of a world wide occult church to prepare the way for a new world of evil. The book flies from one scene of terror to the next as the forces of good and evil clash, headed for the ultimate climax.

Theological Vignettes

Gary Morton

A book of Christian arguments and short pieces.

Theological Vignettes addresses religious questions that have arisen in modern times. In a new age of atheism, false gods and occult fads, I have reached out for genuine belief. Articles in this book counter many of the arguments humanists, atheists and others make against the Christian faith. The book takes different approaches and is not an essay only. Many of the arguments against God are easily defeated, but some cloudy skies, questions and doubts will always skirt our lives. We must have confidence that the answers exist, and can be found through trust in Jesus. All of the arguments in this work were thought out over time, and there were periods of inspiration, but of course my arguments and speculation are fallible. The Word of God is in the Bible.

Channeling the Vampire

Gary Morton

A modern vampire novel. One of three novels I've done that are supernatural horror from beginning to end.

Channeling The Vampire is at heart a supernatural horror fiction novel. It begins as a Jekyll & Hyde tale with a spirit channeler possessed by a vampire. He is pursued by a psychic investigator as the story moves deeper into vampirism and the occult. It is also a suspense and action tale with many twists and turns. This self published book is available for order online in print or PDF download, and as a Kindle book at Amazon.com.

Fabulous Furry World and Other....

Gary Morton

I don't care about pitches and don't read them. It's a comedy book. Modes are horror, sci fi, fantasy, comedy.

A long time ago and in a land far away and on the beach and so on and on forever until I reach that magic twenty words mark. Or a mark that makes this pitch longer than the short pitch.

Vampire Alley

Gary Morton

Vampire ... supernatural horror fiction.

Vampire Alley is a collection of my vampire tales. It is also the title of one of the included novellas. Originally these tales appeared in different print publications and on the web. The tales go from shorts like “Vampire Dream” to longer tales like “Castle of Fangs.” Gary Morton
