God gave me a passion and a dream to write historical Christian romance with quality and purity for His glory. Writing is what gets me up in the morning and keeps me up too late at night.

I lived in St. Louis and in the Denver area during the time period in which A Dream to Share was set. I also worked as a reporter for the Nome Nugget Newspaper in Nome, Alaska. I now reside in Springfield, Illinois with my husband. We have three children and seven grandchildren.

A Dream to Share is set between 1973 and 1975 when the initial oil crisis adversely affected the economy. Yet the story is valid for people who have plans, goals, and dreams in the midst of the current economic situation.

I have reuploaded the first nine chapters of A Dream to Share, but it has been published and will soon be available in hard and soft cover and eBook formats. I still welcome comments and star ratings to improve its rank for better visibility.

The first four chapters of Perilous Times, the sequel, have also been rewritten and reuploaded. It is a work in progress, and I welcome constructive comments, backings and a star rating. With a rank of 4746 and a star rating of 4.0, it needs all the help it can get!

Who shot Douglas McKenzie and why? In perilous times the innocent suffer as well as the guilty, yet God will not permit any suffering unless He has a specific plan whereby great blessings will ultimately come of it. As tradegy, danger and suspense escalate, will Douglas and Connie realize their confidence in perilous times is the assurance that God is in control?

My basis for reading is the same as for my writing: “. . . whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8 NIV) If your story follows this criteria, is interesting and written properly, I will back it or swap reads.

A Dream to Share

Douglas McKenzie asked Connie Oakland to share his dream, but the American dream of owning their home nearly became the impossible dream.


Connie possessed youthful exuberance and an irresistibly free spirit, an airy sorority girl floating in aimless ease. After architectural student Douglas McKenzie encountered Connie that February of 1973, he was inspired him to create a blueprint for a dream.

With determination and strength of purpose, Douglas pursed his plan to graduate with honors, establish his career, save the money to build his dream house, and marry Connie after she graduated. However, planning his life too rigidly caused underlying tensions.

Diverse lifestyles, outside influences, astronomical costs, deception, temptation, a broken engagement, and a critical illness threatened to demolish the dream.

A dream is a wonderful thing to share, but life cannot be built upon it, for it is only an illusion. Life must be built on the solid foundation of faith in God. Connie and Douglas eventually put their faith in Jesus, but what will it take for them to put their faith into action so they can share their dream in committed, wedded love?





 

Perilous Times

A bullet shattered Douglas McKenzie's arm. That initiated events which shattered his life. The tragic repercussions imperil his wife and their marriage.


Who shot Douglas McKenzie and why? When violence impacts Douglas and Connie's life in the fall of 1975, they question how it can be God's will when it hurts so much. Their pastor tells them that in perilous times the innocent suffer as well as the guilty. Yet God will not permit any suffering to come into their lives unless He has a specific plan whereby great blessing will ultimately come of it. What blessing could possibly come from Douglas' being shot and needing a transfusion, of the loss of Connie's father, her baby and Douglas' love pushing her to the cliff-edge of despair?

Then there is the suffering of their own making as consequences of their unwise choices: Deception and distrust, desperation and retribution, suspicion and manipulation. Misunderstandings and unforgiveness threaten their marriage as drastically as a series of unfortunate events threaten their lives. Is the man who suddenly appears and claims to be Douglas' father trying to kill him? Can Douglas keep himself and Connie alive long enough to find out?

As tragedy, danger and suspense escalate, will Douglas and Connie realize their confidence in crisis is the assurance that God is in control?
